they were the best of captions, they were the worst of captions.

Filed under: and that's worthy of a category, bunnies — meg @ 11:27 am

Remember this photo?

I asked you to caption it in this post, last week. Well, okay. So it was more like 11 days ago, but we’re not sticklers for time here. And by “we’re”, I mean “me”.

Here are the captions that were ALMOST my favorite captions… but not quite:

Best caption by my dad (iSore in the comments): Ah, ears to you my love!

Best caption by my brother (iTex in the comments): “WHAT’S THE FREQUENCY, MEG?” (who doesn’t love a good REM reference?)

Best Duracell reference (by Nicole in the comments): Moms, they keep going, and going, and going…

Best Alice in Wonderland reference (by Sam in the comments):
“I’m late, I’m late, I’m late, for a very important date!”

Best Playboy reference (from Dan in the comments): “I’m telling you, Hugh, we PASSED the exit to the mansion!”

Best Haiku (from Tamsen in the comments):
“Thank goodness for roofs // That let my bunny ears breathe // And get some sun, too!”

Best Car Geek comment from my boyfriend (Gradon in the comments):
“Hondas are multiplying like, well, me!”

AND OUR WINNER (because it struck me completely funny when I read it):

“No way that tortoise is winning this time… ” — commenter Nicole

Woohoo, Nicole! Classic reference, and unique in the bunch.

Nicely done, everyone!

And WAY to be completely mortified, Mom.

I’d say $5 on bunny ears was well spent.

Wow! My very own category! I would like to thank the academy . . .

REM? I was thinking of insane people and Dan Rather (not mutually exclusive).

Well, it turned into a song. :) I’m sure you heard of the song before the event (since you were only 16 when it happened, and probably not watching the news a lot. :)

    True dat.

Congrats to all the winners. It was nice to play along… maybe next time.
