I’m in Boston!
With Gradon!
Which is fantastic.
I haven’t blogged in an age!
Which is significantly less awesome.
But rather than saying that I’m busy (beyond the title of this post, that is), I’m just going to say that I’m “gathering material”.
Now, mind you, I’ve really only been gathering material since I landed at Logan, early on Thursday morning, but all the time before that was preparation for coming here.
I’m staying until February 8th, and I’m trying to pack in as much birthday goodness for Gradon as I possibly can in that time; he turns 32 on February 3rd.
Isn’t he young?
We went out with a lovely group of friends on Saturday night, and we’ll be going out again with old friends of Gradon’s Monday night. Then we’ll have our own dinner (should I cook? should I take him out? I don’t know! Suggestions welcome… and, of course, your credit card number if you’re suggesting somewhere absurdly expensive. Ha!) on Tuesday night — the actual day.
I’m thrilled to be here to celebrate with him, even if he DOES live in a country where all my hard-earned money is worth about 75% of what it should be. Damn currency rates!
I promise to share more trip photos (non-Blackberry ones) once I can figure out why my camera is rejecting batteries and once Gradon gets back his camera from his friend.
But how are all of you? Life? Love? Travel? Work?
Tell me all about it, and I’ll do the same (soon).

There’s a tapas place on Newbury St. that’s good–I can never remember the name, though. Enjoy Boston, and more snow this week too!

I know I might be in the minority over this, but I don’t care as I say: Cook for your man on his birthday!!! We are big fans of pasta in this house to me home made bolognese sauce is always a loving dish. Epicurious has a great recipe:

Hmmm. I live in Boston (and have since 2002), so I thought I’d offer my favorites…
The tapas place is called Tapeo; it’s at 268 Newbury Street (between Fairfield and Gloucester Streets, near the Prudential Center mall.) It’s super cute, easy to find and get to, has fun drinks (cachaca!), and isn’t too expensive or crowded this time of year.
I like Tangierino in Charlestown. (Cab it, trust me on this). It’s Morrocan food. And they have belly dancers that are really quite good. It’s fancy, different, and a lot of fun for a special occassion. It’s a “dressy casual” kind of place – you cutest jeans and girly shoes, and you’ll be good to go.
And the North End is easy. ANY place you walk into will be good. (I haven’t eaten at all of them yet, but I’m getting there!)

My vote is that you cook Gradon a fabulous birthday dinner that he will remember for the rest of his life! And he can help with the prep, which is half the fun of cooking.

If you haven’t been there yet, may I suggest a hidden gem? It’s in the Theater District and it’s called “Ivy”. Wonderful, wonderful food. It’s somewhat of a tapas place, but in a very unique way. It gives you the opportunity to sample all kinds of great food.
We go there for special occasions, like, you know, Tuesdays.

So long time reader because of… actually I don’t remember. I think it was an old professor’s blog or something. Anyway, I love your blog and have voted a couple times. I happen to live in San Diego near Eric. Funny as my dad’s name is Eric too. Enough coincidences. I took your post about long distance relationships to heart. The one with the radio clip especially. I recently started one and I get to see her tomorrow! I’m so happy you get to see your guy for so long! I only get one day but we’ll definitely make the most of it. She’s younger than me too. No big deal wouldn’t have known till she finally told me. She’s amazing. Well, I’ll be commenting more from now on so have fun on your trip and I’ll let you know how mine day goes!
