I love! fingerless mittens. Mostly because I can’t function in regular mittens. My hands become almost completely immobile. True story.

I also dislike the fingerless gloves, even though all my knitter friends seem to think they’re pure awesomeness. They might be practical, but they just look weird.
I’m also glad you didn’t get a new sense of humour (complete with Canadian ‘u’)…your current one has always been quite sufficient! You’re a funny girl, Meg.
