and now for something completely different.

I got my hair cut today.

It was too freaking long… the time had come.

But my awesome stylist moved away, and I couldn’t get to him

So someone else did.

Sigh.

Uneven, wispy and undefined semi-layers, long bangs, no particular shape.

And shorter, of course.

I don’t like it at all. I could have done it with a mirror and my kitchen shears.

Blech.

In the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter a bit. But it is kinda ugly, and that’s no fun.

Ever had a totally underwhelming hair experience?

  1. I don’t think it looks bad at all! But if you want other suggestions, try Angela at Halo Salon on Arbutus & 12th. She’s great :)

  2. You’re a wonderful person, Meg – no matter the haircut.

I pray good things, and ONLY good things, come ur way.

It’s amazing how far across the distance we can be from certain people, yet (in a way that bewilders our imagination) feel so connected – mentally and spiritually… I thank God for giving Jack such brilliant idea as Twitter, and you for having let open a door into your life via the interweb.

Your blog is a constant inspiration to me.

    Thank you :)

  3. Sure, haircuts are always kind of a crap shoot. I’ve found, too, that the quality of the haircut has little to do with the cost of the haircut (once you’re above $20!).

I think it’s cute but if you don’t like it, I’d go back. I’ve been told by stylists when I was not thrilled with a cut to return and they’d do some fix-it work but I’ve only followed up on that offer once.

  4. I hate when I shell out for a haircut and I look almost exactly the same as I did before I went in. Super depressing. I think going back in to the stylist is a great idea! Why not? There should be a satisfaction guarantee at salons: “If you’re not completely satisfied with your cut, we will make it right at no charge!”

  5. I have had so many underwhelming hair experiences that I started cutting my own hair. I would come home from a haircut and have to fix it myself anyway. Now, my hair still may be underwhelming, but at least I have no one to blame but myself and it is a heck of a lot cheaper!

  6. Oh man, yes! My Mom ALWAYS cuts my hair except for this ONE time and IT. WAS. AWFUL. Then again, the last time my Mom cut my hair, I wasn’t exactly thrilled with the outcome either…a trim turned into losing FOUR INCHES! gack! Thankfully it’s already started to grow out…but it took me over a year to get it to the length I loved before the cut.

  7. My first time to a salon was when I was about 21 or so (yes, my mom cut my hair for years). I went in and asked for the guy I had heard about, who of course wasn’t there. I ended up with a crazy flamboyant man who twisted and played with my CURLY hair claiming that he just “LOVED THE TEXTURE!”. I knew I was in deep trouble when he started talking about how much he LOVED the 80′s. When he was done, my normally curly hair was transformed into an 80s friz-do, complete with a frizzy fan on top. Unfortunately for me, the fan wouldn’t stay to the side he tried to gel it to, so I had to hold my head sideways. If I stood up straight, so would that friz-fan. It was awful.
