choose ye: random choices are the best kind.

Filed under: either or — meg @ 11:57 am

If you’ve never played this little game, the rules are simple: make a choice. Don’t tell me, “well, it depends!” or “neither!” or “I couldn’t possibly!”

After all, no one’s going to hold you to this in the future (and really, it’s not something important like voting in an election or picking a mate or choosing the right flavor of popsicle!) But it’s certainly interesting to see the choices you make when you have to make one…

Bottled water or tap water?

Jumpy or nerves of steel?

Yeller or never?

Reality tv or written tv? (Yes, I know they end up being the same thing… but you know what I mean!)

Glasses or contacts?

Fish: raw (sushi-grade, of course) or cooked?

Fries: yam or potato?

Disaster coverage: hooked or repelled?

Sailboat or motor boat?

Fiction or non-fiction?

Shoe or sandal?

Onstage or backstage?

Perfume or no?

Jimi Hendrix or James Brown?

WalMart or Target?

Passive or aggressive?

Cherries or strawberries?

Hammock or porch swing?

Trees or grass?

Dive or cannonball?

Sunrise or moonrise?

Teriyaki or (ed. note: I initially left this blank by accident, but now that Brian down there has pointed it out, I’m kind of fond of the existential nature of the question: Teriyaki or….? I mean, what is the true contrapunto for teriyaki? WHO CAN KNOW?!)

Dance or sing?

Crossword puzzles or sudoku?

Swimming pool or hot tub?

Tear up when emotional, or never?

six random facts about british columbia.

Filed under: listy — meg @ 6:45 am

It’s the only province made up of uh… two countries.

We’ve got more Princes than Minnesota and England combined.

You can’t throw an iPhone without hitting a Starbucks. In fact, you get a tax credit if there isn’t one within walking distance of your home.

If you hang around the Art Gallery in downtown Vancouver, you see more burnt-out joints than an orthopedic surgeon.

The only thing people smoke more than pot is salmon.

How to spot a native of the province? They squint whenever that big yellow hurtball comes up in the sky.

friday love list: I NEED IT.

Filed under: love, listy — meg @ 2:59 pm

I need a love list today.

My stomach is working me over, and I’m covered in hives. I’m thinking must have eaten something wrong — perhaps the tacos for lunch? Either that or it’s just my body being my body, and reacting to a long week of little sleep and too much to do. All of which I got done, but still.

I feel kind of broken.

I’m worried about different things… things coming up, things going down… while, of course, being aware the entire time that any sort of worrying is doing me very little good. I’m not one to slow down to worry, mind you — I’m a multitasker! — but fussing takes the fun out of too many things to give it the time of day.

SO!

Something different, then! Some love. The kind of love I love every Friday.

I’d love to check out your lists, too, on your blog or in comments. I honestly grin like an idiot when I read them. Granted, I do a lot of things like an idiot anyway, but grinning is probably my favourite.

THINGS I LOVE. REALLY. I LOVE THEM. I DO.
