dear thursday,
Hello!
I just woke up to you… and let me say, it’s nice to have you here, O Day-Before-Friday, O Day-of-Generally-Good-TV-When-I-Was-Younger…
I’ve always been a Thursday Person.
There’s something about the Day-Before-the-Day-Everyone-Else-Really-Likes that makes me want to love it, almost like an indie band that no one else has discovered but you KNOW will break big, or that little restaurant tucked away on a side street that has incredible food… but you can get right in, because the crowds are not yet lined up outside.
You can love Thursday and feel like you’re on the cusp… rather than just riding the trend.
It’s a day we’re all still working, yet a break is in sight.
It’s a day when you can’t start anything huge, but you can take on little two-day projects that will leave you feeling more than satisfied that you’ve accomplished something.
It’s a day when lots of people get paid, when the Nightly Special at the Pub is often rather tasty because it’s an Off Day, when you’re over the Hump (a phrase I hate, so I’m always happy to be over it), when you would begin to celebrate if you had a three-day-weekend, which we all know are the very best kind (well, second only to the four-day-weekend, which is both magical and somewhat mythical in this day and age of work, work, work.)
It’s a day I really like, because it’s a day that says, I Am Quietly Awesome.
A quality I love in clothes, shoes, men, music, flavours, and… Thursdays.
So thanks for coming out, Big T.
I’ll do my best to enjoy you.
With love,
Meg

This is brilliant. Thanks for starting (I originally typed staring, which is how I usually start my days) my Thursday off with a laugh.

ahhh the ode to Thursday, my favorite day as well, firmly planted as the launch pad for the weekend, yet still safely in the week for those not quite so adventurous to treat it as (dare I say it?) just another day.
ORIGIN Old English Thu(n)resdæg [day of thunder,] translation of late Latin Jovis dies ‘day of Jupiter’ (god associated with thunder): compare with Dutch donderdag and German Donnerstag.
No wonder we love it…
Thanks for the reminder Meg

Thursdays are my favourite day of the week too. I feel like I can do more or less in my evenings because Friday is just one more day, and if I have to, I can sit through a Friday bleary-eyed (but I cannot do that at the beginning of a week or it snowballs into utter exhaustion by Friday).
High fives for Thursdays!

Happy Thursday Meg!
Honestly! 5:00 a.m. and were bright, witty and profound. I hate you. :)
Must say I am a Thursday girl myself. All that Friday anticipation and none of the “weekend is already half done” drivel.

I am copying this and putting into my journal - to keep!
With the appropriate credits, of course.
Well put…

Everyone hates Mondays. But it’s Tuesday I hate. Tuesday is far enough from the past weekend that you feel lost in the droll of the week and so far from the coming weekend that you feel like you’ll never get there. I’m always so happy when that day ends.

Okay. Good Thursday! Happy Thursday! The sky is blue and the sun has come back to Burnaby. It must like Thursdays too. :)
