flygirl?

Filed under: meg of the north — meg @ 11:22 am

I’m not the biggest fan of flying today.

Not because I fear it at all… nope, I love the actual experience and sensation.

No, it has more to do with two previously burst eardrums and a sinus infection.

And my medicine is in my checked luggage.

Sigh.

But…

1. Do you enjoy air travel?

2. What are your must haves for a flight (iPod, magazines, etc.)?

3. Who are your favourite people to travel with?

4. Where do you wish you were flying today?

  1. Barbara Ling (aka Owlbert) Says:

Much empathy, being sick without medicine is lousy.

    Regarding your questions:

    1. Do you enjoy air travel? - Nope, did enough of that when I was touring the country giving seminars.

    2. What are your must haves for a flight (iPod, magazines, etc.)? Book/PDA

    3. Who are your favourite people to travel with? Anyone who leaves me in peace

    4. Where do you wish you were flying today? Today, nowhere, as I have my adult karate this evening, but tomorrow, I’d love visiting any place replete with white water.

    Feel better,

    Barbara

  2. Soumitra Says:

#1. i love takeoffs and landings…especially in smaller aircrafts.
    #2. No preference
    #3. ditto
    #4. Hawaii?
    :)

  3. Jen Says:

    1. Not particularly…my leg does this weird twitchy thing when I try to sleep in a semi vertical position so I definitely don’t like the “red eyes”. However, I do enjoy the thrill of the take offs and landings like Soumitra.

    2. Gummy Bears, some magazines and some good headphones. And a neck pillow.

    3. Kerry and the kids for sure. Love the looks on the kids faces when we are going somewhere new. Can’t wait to surprise them with Florida in May!!!

    4. Somewhere south and warm sounds good to me…

  4. Chris Magnusson Says:

    1. As long as it isn’t cattle class. Even then, it’s acceptable as long as you’re flying someplace you want to visit.
    2. iPod, Treo (for games)
    3. Me, myself, and I
    4. Europe!

I hope your sinuses feel better soon!

    1. Do you enjoy air travel?
    *Absolutely!

    2. What are your must haves for a flight (iPod, magazines, etc.)?
*Snacks. Those are a must have for anywhere for me. IPod, pillow.

    3. Who are your favourite people to travel with?
*Myself. Unless it’s a road trip, but we aren’t talking about those are we? :)

    4. Where do you wish you were flying today?
*Fiji. I wish I was flying there everyday.

  6. Chris Says:

    1. Yes
    2. Magazines & book
    3. David or good friends
    4. Venice or somewhere tropical

  7. Justine Says:

    1. Do you enjoy air travel?

I love the flying itself, especially in a small airplane. The rest–being airport overhead time, being squeezed in a seat, crying babies, blocked ears–I could do without.

I’m much better with a road trip, except you can’t get to Hawaii by car.

    2. What are your must haves for a flight (iPod, magazines, etc.)?

Mainly a book or a magazine or both.

    3. Who are your favourite people to travel with?

My spouse. If I’m not with her, I’m probably alone, and that’s OK too.

    4. Where do you wish you were flying today?

Maui. Or anywhere in Hawaii. Or Australia. Or any of several places in Europe. Probably not Yellowknife. I’d like to drive north of 60 some time, but only in the summer. :)

  8. tNb Says:

    1. Not as much as I did when I was younger … now it just seems like hours and hours of uncomfortable.

    3. Myself.

    4. Somewhere with white beaches and palm trees

  10. Suebob Says:

    1. Absolutely love air travel, anywhere, anytime.
    2. Inflatable neck pillow.
    3. I like going by myself.
    4. Anywhere that it is not snowing. If I had my druthers, Bora Bora.

  11. aaron Says:

    1. Do you enjoy air travel? I enjoy about 15 seconds as the engines kick in, and feeling the power of the aircraft push me back in my seat. I pretty much hate everything else as I always end up being too hot and too cramped. My I need my own jet?

    2. What are your must haves for a flight (iPod, magazines, etc.)? My must haves are my video iPod (fully charged and loaded with at least 3 movies), my iPod nano (cuz my video won’t last too long), my laptop as I have too much time to sit and thing and then inevitably write something cynical, and whatever book I am reading.

    3. Who are your favourite people to travel with? Unfortunately, I have always flown solo. Maybe that the part that sucks. Maybe its because I am too hot and too cramped alone.

    4. Where do you wish you were flying today? I wish I was flying to Italy with someone more interesting with myself. Anyone really. Yes, I wish that very much. Sigh.

  12. richard Says:

    1. still do…something magical about driving to the airport, and landing a few hours later in a different part of the planet. and airports are great for people watching.

    2. must haves? an 8 ft X 2ft travel bag with at least 3 surfboards in it. for short hops, a decent magazine or three. anything over 4 hours - ambien

    3. fave people? solo is ok, like traveling with the wife or a couple buddies… but love traveling with my 12 eyar old daughter. she gets so giddy and pumped up that it’s absolutely infectious.

    4. bali

  13. emineminy Says:

    1. Do you enjoy air travel? I love it. It’s my favorite form of travel.

    2. What are your must haves for a flight (iPod, magazines, etc.)? My iPod is the biggest thing. I can’t read on a plane and I try not to sleep (snoring in public is so not sexy) so my iPod is a lifesaver.

    3. Who are your favourite people to travel with? …me. I’m a loner!! I generally travel for business and it makes getting through the airport really easy because I already know the drill. Plus I appreciate the alone time. The few times I travel for pleasure I always find myself having to explain how things work and it kind of gets old. Though it is cute to watch the reaction of someone who’s never flown before. And I do look forward to being able to take my mom on a plane in the next couple of years. She hasn’t flown since ‘81 and when she saw The Terminal she laughed and said, “A Borders in an airport? Yeah right!!” I felt bad having to tell her that yeah, air travel is vastly different than she remembers. [[holy CRAP that was a long answer!]]

    4. Where do you wish you were flying today? San Francisco. I have a friend up there that I’m always promising to visit, but life gets in the way. Or Vegas!! I had fun playing blackjack for the first time last weekend. I wouldn’t mind going back.

  14. unclespeedo Says:

    1 - yes

    2 - laptop + ipod

    3 - me

4 - in a helicopter up the west coast of vancouver island

  15. Roshan Says:

    1. Do you enjoy air travel?
Yes, but all my air travel was done by the age of 12. I so wanna go in a plane.

    2. What are your must haves for a flight (iPod, magazines, etc.)?
Ipod, if I were to fly often then I’d probably get a laptop and plenty of juice.

    3. Who are your favourite people to travel with?
Right now I’d say just me, myself & I. But I have a feeling that my cousin Manoj would be a hoot to fly with. Cause we always end up in trouble.

    4. Where do you wish you were flying today?
    Canada.

  16. Nathan Gallagher Says:

    I am a Hardcore traveller.

    1. Do you enjoy air travel? Yeah For up to 28 Hours.

    2. What are your must haves for a flight (iPod, magazines, etc.)? 3 Gummy bears, 2 paperclips, duct tape, 14 popsicle sticks, 2 jars of peanut butter, AND a fun person to talk to.

    3. Who are your favourite people to travel with?
