Oh your post soooo reminds me of the year I spent in Washington, D.C. and the winter there. It was hilarious. School closures with a few inches of snow. Metro was barely running. People out with old campaign posters using them as shovels!
Kind of reminds me of Toronto a couple of years back where they needed military aid to help them out.
In Eastern O we have snow and we’re loving it! (At least in this house!)
radio monday morning? what time does the sangria lover rise?
I am all geared up to avoid falling on the street, and to avoid being cold. Nevertheless, I hate this cold weather. I can’t wait until Monday when I’ll be at (hehehehe) 25 oC.
Thanks for the laugh Meg, I just woke up in Ontario to a snow storm that was supposed to be much worse but has really just put a nice white dusting on everything. I think I’d be Vancouverite Ontario native who has moved on purpose because although I love the snow I despise the cold when it gets anything below -10C.
-32 (-45 windchill) and clear.
if lululemon sold boots, surely i would buy them…
I’m going to change my comment from earlier, there is a lot of snow, wet heavy snow. I need to bump up my plans to move to the west coast where I can get by with rain boots, really fun colourful ones.
OH MY GOD! I love how you characterize us prairie dwellers, because it’s so true. Every February, I come to Vancouver, and every February, I leave my warm clothes at home. I don’t quite wear the flipflops, but I definitely get that reaction.
Also…when it’s above -15 here (Edmonton), we generally don’t wear our parkas. Fleece is good, maybe a down vest if there’s a wind. That’s about it.
Yeah…right on the mark. This is my first Vancouver winter – moved out here from Calgary. While I’ve not been in flip-flops and shorts I am certainly in denial. It doesn’t do THIS here. That’s why I came! Didn’t help that I couldn’t find my scraper that my Grandpa from Innisfail put in my car “just in case”……
I like the snow. .but when it freezes over and I have to drive then it sucks. Driving in the snow is fun, driving on the ice isn’t. Glad the rains came and washed the white stuff away! Though i like when the North Shore mountains are covered in snow!
This post is right on the money (same goes on where I am, Victoria). I love the ‘types’ of snow-coping, though you forgot the Recluse, who simply isn’t seen at all the instant something white and flaky falls from the sky. They know better than to go outside on ice in their sneakers and risk getting run over by west coast drivers.
