so!
Between stomach-wrenching antibiotics, missing sleep, and leftover adrenalin from our firefighter/police/paramedic shindig this morning, I’m feeling a tad… well… uh… lacking.
Rather than go on and on about that, though, I’d thought I’d check in on you wacky kids and ask a few questions that have popped into my head today:
1. If you were running out of a burning house (I know, I know… I said I wasn’t going to go on about that, but I was curious!), what are the five things you’d grab, given a minute to do so?
2. Are you more cynical or optimistic about romance in general?
3. Do you judge people according to how they look? And if you do, what matters most: fitness, fashion, posture, or general mood?
4. Do you like your laugh?
5. If I gave you a camera right now, what are the first five things you’d want to capture on film?
6. What song should play when you come in a room?
7. Is there a colour you wear more often than not?
8. Do you dance when music plays?

1. Warm clothes, outdoors gear, personal stuff from my cupboard shelf, ipod and computer.
2. Optimistic, after many years of cynicism.
3. Yes, and which takes priority depends on the situation at hand.
4. Yes.
5. Film? What’s film?
6. Something by Matthew Good, or Tool if I’m in a really bad mood. Otherwise, something Christmassy by Percy Faith.
7. Green.
8. Not if anyone’s looking.
November 5th, 2007 at 5:27 pm
1. Computer, photos, shoes (not all of them - I’m just assuming I wouldn’t have any on), purse, phone.
2. Romance in general: optimistic. Romance where I am concerned: cynical.
3. I’d say it’s less judging people based on appearance than it is deciding how intimidated I am by them based on their appearance.
4. Yes.
5. My camera is broken and I have been wanting to get pictures of the pretty leaves, my fireplace, other cool features of my new apartment, and some photos of my boyfriend and me so my mom will get off my back about it.
6. Daydream Believer
7. Blue
8. I second the “not if anyone’s looking” response.
November 5th, 2007 at 5:55 pm
1. My dog, purse, laptop, passport, and a change of clothes.
2. Optimistic about romance
3. Despite my best efforts, I know I do judge. Fashion & fitness are probably the first two things I notice.
4. Do you like your laugh? Yup.
5. A photo of every member of my wedding party, since they won’t get off their duffs and send me a photo of themselves. Then I can get off MY duff and work on their bio profiles.
6. What song should play when you come in a room? Oh dear God. None, please. Ever.
7. Black & blue. Inspired by bruises everywhere.
8. Yes, I dance when (good) music plays.
November 5th, 2007 at 7:18 pm
1. Assuming the baby is taken care of, and somehow the cat already got outdoors, my new Keens, my purse, my cell, my ancient teddy bear, and my library book bag. I’d have to pay for those books up-front before I could check out any more. Can you imagine going through the terror and paperwork of a devastating house fire without access to free books? I’ve thought about this a lot ;)
2. Optimistic.
3. I always check out people’s clothes, but don’t tend to think much of their personality or mental state based on that. People just ARE.
4. I suppose so.
5. My perfect robot toenails, all the purple and red pear trees, my stepson (to irritate him), the spiderwebs on the ceiling, and your face.
6. June Mermaid from the Xenogears soundtrack
7. Green.
8. Depends. I’ll at least tap something rhythmically if it has a good beat.
November 5th, 2007 at 8:17 pm
1. My dogs, of course — they’re my babies. Everything else could be replaced, but I’d grab a pair of pants too. Because sitting on my couch with no pants and running outside with no pants are decidedly different.
2. Cynical, dammit.
3. Eyes, smile, fitness, posture.
4. Not really, but I do like to laugh.
5. Film? How 20th century of you!
6. I’m still writing my theme song.
7. Blue.
8. Not always on the outside, but usually on the inside.
p.s. Feel better sooner!
November 5th, 2007 at 8:36 pm
1. Wife, son, DVDs with dig pics, wallet, pants with pockets to hold the wallet
2. Cynical - dang, don’t you just hate those glass half full people - hope you drown ;-)
3. Sorry, I’m a guy - yes I do. I do. Eyes, smile, hair, mood, fitness
4. Yes, it’s a little loud though.
5. My son being him
6. 1812 Overture - them be fightin words!
7. Orange
8. Eew! That would be ugly. Yellow man can’t dance.
November 5th, 2007 at 9:40 pm
1. Escape ladder & spare runners from under my bed to get out of said burning house as I am on the second floor, my small portable safe with all the important stuff in it, laptop/camera/ipod which I will begin to store in the same carry bag starting NOW, purse with wallet and cell already in it.
2. Cynical/realistic.
3. Yes, & depends on the moment.
4. Mostly.
5. Since I’m in that mode, I’ll go with things I would need pictures of for insurance purposes & my niece being darling in 4 different ways.
6. Theme songs -either Stupid Girl (Garbage) or Taking the Long Way (Dixie Chicks) but if based on mood lately I’d go with Darth Vader’s theme.
7. Green. With black a very close second.
8. I do alot of chair dancing at work. Home alone? Sure, I’ll get down.
November 5th, 2007 at 10:29 pm
1. child, purse (cell and keys are inside), laptop (new mac, can you blame me??), photo of my mother, fiance’s CPU (more pics on there!) :)
2. Completely optimistic. Despite past history, still optimistic. :)
3. Judging people - hmm of course, obviously those we will not meet.. but of course exception taken to those we DO meet… allowing whatever they are/who they are to come through giving second judgement much higher precedence. :) first though.. posture/mood/fashion, yes… not that im a slave to the latter… :)
4. laugh? Hmm sometimes. not always. when its a regular laugh and honest - you know, from the heart/belly, its just fine, because its real. Other times when I’ve had a few drinks, I question the sound of it.. which doesnt really need questioning at all.
5. My daughter, the changing of the leaves before they are all gone, I would give it to my daughter to take a shot of my fiance and i, and then two of all of us together. ;)

6. What song should play when you come in a room?

November 6th, 2007 at 7:13 am
1. The baggie with all my important papers, children, cats, camera, handbag.
2. Cynicla
3. I think I do - though not intentionally. Usually mood.
4. My laugh. I think I try not to listen to it.
5. I’d walk the neighborhood to see what catches my eye. Lately I’m looking at themes about openings (doors, windows). If I could remove some of my inhibitions, I’d want to ask Tony, at the shoe repair place, if I could take his picture. (I’d also want to take the pictures of people walking down the street, if they’d let me.)
6. “At last” as sung by Etta James
7. Yes. What ever is cleanest. Seriously though, I’m moving towards the darker colors again. Seems that there is a lot of black in the wardrobe.
8. Not often. I’m working on doing it more though.
November 6th, 2007 at 8:41 am
1. The cats, the laptop, the file of important papers, the album I made for my husband for our wedding day with pictures and mementos, and my childhood photo albums.
2. I was very cynical until I met my husband. And even for awhile after that. But now I’m completely optimistic.
3. Probably general mood. That may be a hold-over from my days working in retail. Is this person going to be nice to me or kill my day?
4. Generally it’s fine and normal but if something is really, really funny I tend to go silent and have tears run down my face. And that’s a little strange I think.
5. I guess since I’m at work, I’d take pictures of 5 of my favorite students. Not that I have favorites of course! Only BAD teachers have favorites!
6. Only for the title–Clumsy by Fergie
7. I have been wearing a lot of green lately.
8. Genearlly yes, at least for a little bit of it.
November 6th, 2007 at 9:19 am
1. My boyfriend, my childhood teddy bear, the computer and two pieces of jewellery.
2. Optimistic, but I have had my share of cynical moments.
3. Yep and hate myself for it. Eyes matter a lot.
4. Yes but just because it is reminding me that I’m having fun.
5. I think I would just shoot away and hope for a couple of decent shots.
6. “Here Comes The Bride”? Or maybe just any Stacey Kent song.

If you were running out of a burning house, what are the five things you’d grab, given a minute to do so? I have an unnatural fear of fire, so I’ve thought about this a lot: my husband, my cat, my jewelery box, my wallet, our travel/ wedding scrapbooks, our laptop…oh God, that’s more than 5 and how am I going to carry all that stuff, especially considering my husband is 6′ and weighs at least 200 lbs….I’ll have to re-think this plan.
Are you more cynical or optimistic about romance in general? Completely optimistic.
Do you judge people according to how they look? And if you do, what matters most: fitness, fashion, posture, or general mood? Not so much on how they look, but on how they treat other people….if someone is rude or lacks manners, that’s repulsive to me.
Do you like your laugh? Yes, in fact, I do.
If I gave you a camera right now, what are the first five things you’d want to capture on film? The fall colours, my friend’s new baby, my hubby sleeping, my new brown heels…
6. What song should play when you come in a room? I’ve had a theme song before (it’s a long story) and it was ‘Summer of ‘69′ by Bryan Adams. It’s still appropriate, although I’m not sure why.
7. Is there a colour you wear more often than not? Blue…75% of my clothes are a shade of blue.
8. Do you dance when music plays? Absolutely…life’s too short.
November 6th, 2007 at 10:31 am
1. My purse, my laptop, my pillow, my meds, my husband. Note placement! ;-)
2. Optimistic.
3. Of course not! (I mean, yes.) Mood is most important.
4. Yes, except when I snort.
5. My husband’s smile, the ocean, a funny sign, the afternoon light in the trees, my mother.
6. Thus Spake Zarathustra. Or the Looney Tunes theme.
7. Yes, red. I have lots of red. I used to have lots of blue, but then red took over.
8. Yes!
November 6th, 2007 at 11:39 am
1. Stuffed Elephant, favourite hoodie, backpack (full of books), grandpa’s war memorabilia, a pillow
2. Cynical.
3. posture and mood.
4. Um….yes? (as I cackle)
5. Ethan Moreau, a prairie sunrise, a grain elevator, a coral reef, a hockey player stopping and kicking up spray
6. Bitch - Meredith Brroks
7. Lots of grey with other colours (like today…grey and orange)
8. sometimes. In my car - all the time.
