Summertime optimism vs grumpy weatherism? Not necasarilly your attitude change, but a phenomenon of the general population?
Or maybe they were just scrutizing you for clues as to when the next time will be that you are going to go away and leave us Megless.
I’m just saying…
Huh. That does seem totally counterintuitive. Maybe in California we are just live and let live (except in the OC and some other locales, like Westlake Village/Agoura/Calabasas)
place matters.
Weather affects people–moods, attitudes, etc. Have you considered moving to San Diego if you love it so much? It might be really, really good for you!
Cold? It’s -2C and there’s a whack o’ snow on the ground! I think I’ll go to Vancouver this week.
San Diego is rather chill. By my last day there I was walking around on the beach in JUST MY BIKINI and I was not ashamed. I do not know what it is. However, a bit of “I will never see these people again” vacation mentality may have kicked in. That could be what happened to you, in Canada your identity is tied in to your daily life because it is part of your base, but out of town you can, say, wear a V neck plunge dress to a wedding and feel both slutty and triumphant (ahem, not that I would have any experience with this, naturally).
How do you not own fall clothes? I just pulled all my sweaters out and have been daydreaming of finally finding the perfet knee high boots. Fall clothes=the best clothes. Ever. Time to go shopping!
But I don’t LIKE shopping — unless it’s for something I just have my heart SET on — and I hate spending money on clothes and shoes. :-) Therein lies the rub.
I was thinking about Survivor and the big chested women on it and how they jump and bounce ‘em. They appear to be comfortable showing lots of cleavage and the people around them don’t appear to notice; like its commonplace. But we just don’t see women dressing like that in Vancouver, unless they’re hookers or movie stars. We are humble and polite and i guess you could say shy.
This is probably due to not having a summer. Or having one like last season. It never gets quite warm enough here for flimsy dressing to catch on.
I completely understand how you feel. I was in San Diego 3 times last year and each time it was as if I just came alive there. Felt completely content with myself and my body, flaws and all despite wearing much less and revealing more…not a care in the world. I can’t figure it out but I just know I like that feeling. If you come up with anything, let me know.
