dear internet,

Filed under: stuff — meg @ 8:35 am

Gosh, you’re quiet out there.

Like, super quiet.

I mean, I can see you reading, but you’re all shhhhhh.

Everyone keeps telling me you’re running around doing athletic endeavours in the sunshine or taking a vacation somewhere exotic — anything but reading blogs — but I know better.

You’ve just been at work and reading Perez Hilton — isn’t that right? You’ve been watching Big Brother, haven’t you? And emailing your friends about celebrity jail time? And going to end-of-season sales at T.J. Maxx? And Twittering your every move? And skipping barbeques to play Scrabble on Facebook? And chasing the ice cream man down the street with a 20-dollar bill?

Yeah.

I know you’re not horseback riding on the beach or doing yoga on cliffs or playing frisbee in the lake with your dog.

Let’s just be real here.

I want to know three things:

1. How you’re doing…

and

2. How you spent that summer vacation…

and

3. What you WISH you’d been doing all summer.

Okay! GO!

Yours lovingly and also from indoors,

Meg

    1. I’m walkin’ on sunshine.
    2. Gardening, working on the house, trying to make a go at self-employment.
    3. Back packing through Europe, sipping wine on some Italian terrace, laying on a beach in Spain, eating roquette and parmesan salad in France. Ya know, the usual.

  2. ie Says:

    1. Trying to stay awake. We caught the tail end of Dean, and so now we’re all bitchin’ about being up all night to the thunderboomies instead of bitchin’ about how we never ever get rain…

    2. Vacation? What vacation?

    3. Hawaii, dude. Or Tofino.

    Have a lovely day!

  3. Anna Says:

    1. It’s Monday. I think that should explain it well enough.

    2. I don’t recall a vacation? Was there supposed to be one?

    3. Sleeping in the hammock on my deck.

  4. Angella Says:

    1. Fighting what Emily has
    2. WORKED
    3. Spent more time at the beach

Seriously, though. I find that the Internet is quiet on the weekends and in the mornings. People swing by but don’t say much. They must need their morning java to kick in :)

  5. Bozoette Mary Says:

This is going to be kind of a downer, so feel free to skip it. Really.

    1. I’m better. I thought I was going to lose my mom last week, but she decided not to go. So yeah, better.

    2. I spent my summer vacation taking care of my mom, mostly. It sucked, mostly. And the rest of it was spent applying for (and getting, thank goodness) my own job, because of a reorg at work. That kinda sucked too.

    3. I would have preferred lolling on the beach, drinking cool, fruity drinks, and thinking about applying more sunscreen. There’s always next summer!

  6. lizardek Says:

    1. Good :) Busy, but good.
    2. Being productive, then being lazy, then being social.
    3. Seeing more of Scotland

  7. barbie2be Says:

    1. pissed as heck at my body for refusing to cooperate by producing iron filled red blood cells, necessitating the need for me to spend the day getting an IV iron infusiuon tomorrow.

    2. i went to LA to see a taping of “The Price is Right” before Bob Barker retired.

    and

    3. Traipsing through the italian country side.

  8. Kyle Says:

    1. I’m doing ok… except it’s a “disc”… not a frisbee. Frisbee’s a corporation, and their discs suck.

    2. Vacation: Keeping track of kids running around in the wilderness for a week. I love Camp Grafton :D.

    3. Adrenaline pumping stuff… like skydiving and such.

  9. Adam Says:

    1. Tired.
    2. Writing my whimsical, yet accurately titled “Summer Dissertation”.
    3. Beach. Reading book after book. Bit of swimming when it gets too hot. Maybe next year.

  10. NetChick Says:

    Hi Meg!

    1. How you’re doing…

I’m doing fabulously, thank you. Now that I haven’t had any gong-show dates in 2 full weeks. Life couldn’t be better! :D

    2. How you spent that summer vacation…

Hmm. Working? I had 3 days off, but work called me all 3 days, so, I am not counting that. I think I might go on a last-minute cruise with a friend of a friend (yep, I don’t know her, but she’s coming in from Austrailia, and wants to do an Alaska cruise) at the end of September. Sounds like a great time, to me!

    3. What you WISH you’d been doing all summer.

:) Oh, man. Where to start? Um… travelling to far off destinations. Only, work has just been too darn busy.

    ——-

Hope to see you at the next Third Tuesday meetup in Vancouver in September! :)

  11. Doug Says:

    1. Behind schedule and over budget, but squeezing more out of life than most, and cautiously optimistic, with a sense that the greatest love of my life is still in my future.

    2. Working 6 or 7 days a week. Exactly 1800 days till I enter the bonus round of freedom 55.

    3. Same as bohemiangirl and barbie2be. Surfing in Tofino this long weekend. Me and my backpack in Egypt for 3 weeks at xmas.

  12. Sheryl Says:

    1.Better than last week.
2.What is this, “vacation” of which you speak?
3.Traveling the country, staying in fancy hotels and visiting friends with my unlimited trust fund.

  13. Alice in Wonderland Says:

    I love your lists!

    1. How you’re doing…

Mixed today. I’ve got a house full of kids until tomorrow when 1/2 start school. Next week I’ll be down 3/4 at the third child unit will be back at pre-pre-school.

    2. How you spent that summer vacation…

Construction, kids and a wicked sibling-family reunion.

    3. What you WISH you’d been doing all summer.

This is going to sound horrible.

    I wish I was working.

I’m not meant to be a stay-at-home Mom. I love my kids. I just don’t want to be with them 24/7 cleaning up course after course of fluid spilled across the table/floor/sofa. (To be fair, I like kids more when they’re about three years old and up. They’ve got an opinion and I find them relatively fun to be around).

Also, I like my job very much. (The people I work with, meh, but the clients, they’re usually great.) And, the eight hours of being away from the brood is often just enough to appreciate them, and their trials and tribulations.

  14. Elizabeth Says:

    1. Okay- work is crazy and I need more cuddle time, sleep and kickball.

    2. Mostly in Israel, on the beach in Tel Aviv getting a nice tan. Feeling uber religious and loving it.

    3. Hmm…hard to say. I think the only thing that can go here is that I wish that I had gone traveling with the boyfriend I don’t have…what you gonna do….

  15. Kristen Says:

    1. I’m doing super fantastic, but that’s the usual for me - no time for gettin’ down.

    2. I spent my summer waiting for the good weather periodically jackassing around with some fantastic friends and making NEW super fun friends. Did I go anywhere? No. But I will. Soon. With the aforementioned wicked awesome friends. Whoot!

    3. I wish I had spent more time at the river enjoying the sun, gone golfing at least once, made it to the PNE, bbq’d many more times and indulged in a few more girl pop.

  16. Eliot Says:

    1. Uh, OK. I’m trying to regroup and think about who I am.
    2. New Jersey, visiting my mom, whose Parkinson’s is getting worse.
    3. Snorkeling in Maui with my kids.
