more aaaaaugh than gillespie.

Filed under: stuff — meg @ 9:03 am

I spent the entirety of yesterday feeling really, really dizzy and nauseous.

This is a pretty lame sensation as far as sensations go.

Sensations I enjoy include:

    hot showers
    footrubs
    back scratching
getting my hair washed at the salon
    sun on my face
    bobbing around in the waves

Sensations I don’t enjoy include:

    yesterday

As you can see, unpopular.

I’m not totally sure what’s causing the problem. It could be my latest dose of hormones, since that’s a fairly typical reaction to a new force for good in my system (if not a bit aggrandized.)

It could also be the shock of going cold turkey off my antihistamines, since my major sneeze season is over, and I try and take as little in the way of drugs as possible.

It could ALSO be that my labrynthitis is acting up. I developed labrynthitis after a bout with pneumonia in the early 2000’s, but the symptoms are generally kept at bay by drinking enough water and not letting respiratory infections get out of hand.

So I have no idea, really.

What I do know is that the bus is TORTURE when my head is all swirly and that staring at a computer screen all day is only slightly less wonky. Yesterday, I had to fight off tears at the grossness of it all, until finally my mother volunteered to drive halfway across the earth to bring me home early from work. Which is awesome, and unshockingly so, because my mother?

Awesome.

She also fixed cupboards in my kitchen (non-closers), hung a picture in my room (that she painted), and brought me treats (peanut butter ice cream thingies, pistachios, gingerale, nectarines… and much, much more!)

Give it up for the Judy, if you will. And for the Reid, my dad, just because. He was a part of the fun via MSN when my mom disappeared to the hardware store and is the soul of jolly.

I’m off to a much better start today. I don’t feel sick, per se… just dizzy with some major tension in my head, neck and back. I think that comes from trying to find the best angle to hold myself at/overcompensating for lack of balance. Woo!

I’m making sure that I don’t dehydrate or put off eating and make it worse… and that’s a challenge, seeing as I usually subsist on coffee at work.

Anyway.

THANK YOU so much for your responses to the WORLD’S LONGEST BLOG POST yesterday. It encourages me so much to know that a lot of us have been on the same page and faced the same struggles. I honestly believe being honest about it is a big part of moving forward (not to sound all Dr. Phil, because EW!)

And we all know how good I’ve been at moving forward. So.

Love to all of you from my dizzy brain and my un-dizzy heart.

Hate the dizzy, nauseous feeling. Had it after trying to quit some medication and wanted the planet to stop in its orbit for a while. It was moving too much! Stay on top of your non-diuretic liquids….it helps.

    1. Better than yesterday, thanks to Sleep.
    2. Restrain the toddler and put pinkeye drops in his eyes.

    1. How are you doing this morning?
Pretty well, thanks for asking! I got to sleep in, and had a yummy Starbucks latte while taking a nice, long walk through Mundy Park with a good friend…a good start to the day!
    2. Any good weekend plans?
Heading up to Keats, which is always fun! Since our friends will be there, we’ll head over to Gibsons and get some of the BEST GELATO I HAVE EVER TASTED! I’ve been thinking about it since we went over with them on Canada Day. Yum!
    3. If you could spend the day with anyone right now, doing anything, what would you be up to?
My hubby, just chilling, because we haven’t had the chance to do that for a couple of weeks. We’ve been busy in good ways with other people but hey, I miss him! We plan to do exactly that for the rest of the day.
    4. Name four famous people or historical figures you wish you could have dinner with tonight…
    Hmmm…
    1. God/Jesus-I figure they can be the same, because they are one entity! Anyway, I want to have dinner with them because I have some questions. What is going on with my body? What can I expect? What is the deal with this issue and that issue? I would also want to say a huge thanks for the Grace thing.
    2. My grandma Kaye-she’s not famous or historical, but I never met her. She died of cancer before I was born and all of my life I have heard these amazing stories about her and I have been told how I’m so much like her. I just really would love to sit down and talk to her. My middle name comes from her name and I have always wanted to just ask her so many questions!
    3. Meg Fowler-famous blogger, she could use my roasting pan to create a delicious meal. :)
    4. Martin Luther King Jr.
    5. Any lists in particular you wish I’d write?

Kind of crappy. I’ve just come back from a lovely holiday to find that my house is still the wreck I left it in.

    2. Any good weekend plans?
No. I don’t consider housekeeping and yard work good weekend plans.

    3. If you could spend the day with anyone right now, doing anything, what would you be up to?

Sleep. Anyone can join me as long as they don’t wake me up. (I had way to much fun on my holiday.)

  16. Kat Says:

MMM…the dizzies…most likely an inner ear thing or a pressure in your sinuses thing?!? I get bouts of dizzies (nothing like what you’ve described though - they come, they go, usually in less than a minute) when my sinuses are clogged and/or I blow my nose too hard…messes up all the connections in there. And the nausea is probably b/c you’re dizzy…gravol?

I have a really hard time with allergies as well. Cotton wood is my mortal enemy! I’m also allergic to pine trees, fir trees, cherry trees, oh and a weed called lambs quarter” or “goosefoot”…the leaves of which are commonly used in “fancy” salads b/c they’re edible - found out the hard way what happens when I accidentally ingest it…Urgh!

I am glad to hear your a feeling better ;) Especially since this weekend is supposed to be SUNNY - WOOHOO!

Have you ever tried a chiropractor (well at least since 2005 when you posted that you hadn’t (I searched))? I love mine…she’s rocks!

    In answer to your questions:

    1. How are you doing this morning?
    - Well technically it’s now “tomorrow” morning,and I’m on my way to bed LOL…so I’m great :)

    2. Any good weekend plans?
    - Working for a bit Sat., then going to a farewell dinner, then some retail therapy with a friend on Sunday.

    3. If you could spend the day with anyone right now, doing anything, what would you be up to?
    - Touring Paris - ahhh Paris (soon my French friend…soon).

    4. Name four famous people or historical figures you wish you could have dinner with tonight…
    - William Wallace, Matthew McConnaughy (yum), Princess Diana, King Tut

    5. Any lists in particular you wish I’d write?
    - Hmm…whatever floats your boat ;) I don’t think my ideas would/could trump yours.
