  1. 8 Track –
Captain & Tenille’s “Love Will Keep Us Together”
    (my parents had this one)

    Ipod –
    Elvis Costello’s “I Want You”
and various other alternative rock stuff

Can’t seem to get out of the last century, any specific recommendations?

  2. Ah, see, I love Elvis Costello. He’s awesome.

I’d suggest Wilco’s “Sky Blue Sky” and Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” as good starters from my current favourites. Solid, solid albums from really talented musicians, and completely different sounds.

  3. Hi Meg,

I’ll stick with what I’ve aquired lately. Some of it may be crap. Some of it’s gold!

  6. Oooh! We have Greg Laswell, Joshua Radin, Modest Mouse, Josh Kelley and Mat Kearney in common. Nice! I will check out the rest…

  7. Hmmm, some Faith Hill, Pink, Nickelback, Creed, Led Zeppelin, Joe Walsh, Pink Floyd, Bad Company, Nazareth, Status Quo, Uriah Heep, Doobies, Boz Skaggs, Beyonce, Gabrielle, Michael Buble and Michael Bolton.

Yep, I said it, Michael Bolton (sittin’ on the dock of the bay, watchin’ the time roll away…)

    Just to name a few.

  8. Hey, “What a Fool Believes” is one of the best songs ever! And who doesn’t love a little “Misty Mountain Hop”? I can’t speak to Creed and Bolton, though. You’re on your own there. :-)

  9. My most recent music purchases include:

    Crowded House “Time On Earth”
    Kathleen Edwards “Failer”
    Chalk Circle “The Great Lake”
    Brad Paisley “5th Gear”
    Chris Cornell “Carry On”
    Rush “Snakes & Arrows”

  10. I’m really loving Feist right now. And I’ve added various releases from her current and previous albums to my ipod this weekend.

  11. Ah, Teej… yes!

I have Open Season, Let It Die, and The Reminder… all of it!

Tex… Chalk Circle! Holy memory lane! I like Kathleen Edwards and love Crowded House… but you know how I feel about Rush.

And Alice… one can never get enough Jazz! I have everything from Davis to Coltrane to Fitzgerald to Parker on my iPod.

  12. mofro – front porch swampfunk
deblois – a female jack johnson
amy steinberg – jewish lesbian folkrap
    various assorted eclectic oldies

  13. Nothing new on the iPod. Just the same old George Strait, Howard Jones & the Scorpions. I’m SO jealous that you have had a chance to download some Peter Bjorn & John and Wilco. I totally love finding “new-to-me” music. :)

Has it stopped raining there? Cuz it sure hasn’t here in Seattle…

  14. Hayley Sales – What you Want (sounds like female Jack Johnson)

    Josh Rouse

Stacey Kent (American living in Britain, great jazz)

  15. Lots of blues: Bonnie Raitt, BB King, the Lightning in a Bottle soundtrack, Chris Wheatley (I think), Wayne Baker Brooks. Standards: Marlene Dietriech, Fred Astaire, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald. Many singer/songwriters: John Hiatt, John Prine, Steve Goodman, Duncan Sheik. Good old rock and roll. And other stuff. (I love Jill Scott! Very sexy.)

  16. I love Sufjan Stevens, Spoon, and Amy Winehouse. You have good taste in music.

These days, I’m listening to a lot of Regina Spektor, Paolo Nutini, Keane, Jet, and The Perishers.

  17. Late responding (how….typical…of me), but:

    Aerosmith
    Billy Joel
    Celtic Woman
    East Village Opera Company
