GERBILS

Gerbils are small rodents that have somehow managed to work their way into the hearts of children everywhere (and other places, too… according to the Wikipedia disambiguation page linked below. Ack.)

I am no big fan of gerbils; they tend to be rather belligerent where I’m concerned, and bite my fingers when I try to pick them up. This always nearly results in me dropping the gerbil on the ground, but NO, I tell myself, hang on until you can put him in his cage.

Once a gerbil drew blood on my finger. That gerbil’s name was Phillip.

    Very interesting.

I, for one, would like to know more about wheat ale.

LOL! You. Made. My. Day! Which, considering the 2-hour spinning-monstrousity-carousel-teacup-ride-induced nausea wasn’t that difficult, but still.

Gerbils marched into my heart of hearts when I was a young teenager and lasted there only until one of the little buggers jumped out of my hand onto the floor and made a dash for it. I scrambled after him, grabbed the end of his tail (the way to pick them up) and POP! - off came a third of his tail. I stood, screamed, and flung the tail across the room while “stumpy” ran away. He still won in the end. Did it kill him? No, he just had a smaller tail from then on. Did it stop him from running away again? Heck no - those things are bent on escaping your clutch. Quick, annoying little buggers.

Gerbils aren’t that bad. Maybe belligerent, I agree. This reminds me of that article about the squirrel that went on a rampage and injured three people:
