1. I need to find something to wear before Saturday. I have nothing to wear. I hate shopping with such a narrow frame of purpose. But I have to look nice. The man I am remembering was nothing short of natty.
2. I may actually be marginally more intelligent today for having eaten breakfast. Stay tuned. No… wait. Nope.
3. Organic berries are 9000 times better than non-organic ones. I mean, I knew. But I didn’t KNOW.
4. I have to start submitting things again. And often. This little writing career of mine needs a major ass-kick.
5. Why does Vancouver get cloudy on the weekends?
6. I have no idea what I feel like eating anymore. I used to want different things in mini-cravings all the time. Like, “Oooh! I’m going to have THAT for dinner!” Now I just have NO CLUE.
7. If you were going to buy a new mattress, where would you go? Department store? Mattress store? Which ones are best? Do you have a great mattress yourself? I think I need a new one. Pillows, at least. I’m waking up creaky.
8. Is 33 just a creaky age?
9. I just bought myself a yoga ball. I love rolling around on it with my body completely suspended in mid-air. Closest thing to flying. Or maybe just the closest thing to flying with the aid of a marshmallow.
5. It’s something to do with weekday traffic emissions. Really. There was a study on the East Coast about nine years ago.
7. I love my mattress. It’s a Simmons Beautyrest pillowtop. If you are waking up creaky, you probably need a new mattress. They typically are only good for 10 years, if that. Go to a reputable mattress store; in our area, Sleep City USA is good. (But I imagine you don’t have that particular chain.) Wear comfy clothes. Lie down on every appealing mattress in the store. Settle in. Try to ignore the oversolicitious salesmen. When you find a mattress your body adores, negotiate the heck out of the price. Call or stop by other stores to check their prices on that model, too. Floor models are a good way to save money.
Mattress or pillows, one should look into Tempura.
i need a new mattress too. i would go with something from one of the matress stores. probably simmons or sealy.
i have an exercise ball at home and an exercise ball chair at work. i love them both.
great for core strenghening!
We have a Miralux and it is so comfortable.
My friend has one and the day after her Christmas party one year, she and I spent the entire day in her bed, hungover as hell, while her boyfriend watched football in the living room. I decided that day I that my husband and I were buying a Miralux mattress. Wonderful.
Side note…I’ve always wanted to try the memory foam mattress. You know, the one where they put the wine glass on the bed and jump on it and it doesn’t spill.
I got my mattress from Sears. I normally don’t like that store, but the sales people left me alone until I wanted help, and the woman who did assist me was friendly and knowledgeable. None of this made up crap that sales people often spout off when they’re trying to get a sale. I know, because I used to be one of them when I was younger. ;)
I’d definitely recommend checking them out – try a Sears Home Store – they just have furniture there. I had a great experience, and got a great deal as well. Good luck on finding something comfy – a good mattress is worth every single penny!
Get the pillow top mattress! They are like lying on a cloud. Our next mattress will definitely be one of those!
Try an Intellibed. We have one of their mattress toppers, you will never sleep so good on anything else.
(It can take your back a couple of days to get used to it).
i am always fascinated by how passionate people can be about their mattress. i suppose it really is like a relationship, though. i probably spend more time with my mattress than i do with my husband…he has his own bed thankyouverymuch. what can i say, we are not compatible sleepers and it’s best that we don’t force it. besides, i don’t like to share. but anyhow, i have a luxurious pillowtop mattress from a local store here in colorado.
I’ve gotten mattresses twice from Sleep Country Canada. Detest their ads, but they know their stuff. Wear comfy clothes, lie on the mattress the way you normally sleep. You’ll find out pretty quickly what feels good for you. And they wear little booties when they deliver, so they don’t muck up your house!!
get a water bed! ok i know they’ve been out of style since, well, before you were born. But really, does anything else make as much sense? Have you ever laid on your back in a pool, floating and gazing at the sky? Theres nothing more comfy because theres nothing holding your various parts in an unatural way – your bum will sink in however far is necessary for YOU to float, ditto your feet, knees, shoulders etc. No mattress on earth but a water bed could possibly make as much sense because theres no pressure points to hurt your body. Its those pressure points that’re making you tired and sore. I’ve been floating for 37 years and highly recommend it!
