That squirrel should be made aware of the well-documented overheating problems of Macbooks (you know, the ones that Apple ‘fixed’ by calling them notebooks instead of laptops), otherwise he may get baked. He could also get fried by a malfunctioning Magsafe connector, or potentially injured by a swelling battery.
Yeah, I made a comment about every Mac coming with an Intel chip “munk” on Digg, Mom. He’s stripey… not a squirrel.
Doug. My eyes rolled so hard when I read your comment that they literally disengaged from my head and rolled across the floor. My Mac experience trumps my PC experience any day of the week and twice on Sundays. But you’re probably just crabby because you installed Vista… ewwww! :-)
Just Google ‘Macbook problems’ (when I type ‘Macbook’ into the search field in Firefox, the first search is autocompletes is ‘…problems’ - that should say something).
When I was shopping for a laptop last year, I actually considered a Macbook briefly, now that they can run a useful operating system, but when I heard of the issues, I stayed FAR FAR AWAY. I’ve already experienced crApple’s sketchiness with iPods. I don’t need it with a $3000 computer.
Okay, if I had EIGHT YEARS I could find you all the websites about how much Windows sucks (or Dell, for the love of Pete. I HATE DELLS.)
There are THOUSANDS. Many, many more than “Mac Sucks” sites because so many people have been forced to use Microsoft products just to get by.
That’s not because it’s better, either. Just because something holds market share doesn’t make it better. Wal-Mart, anyone? I’d rather shop at Whole Foods or frickin’ Target any damn day.
You’re never going to have me convinced, because any argument you bring has a million Windows/Microsoft issues coming right back at it.
I guess it’s just a case of Stockholm Syndrome. :) I work with a Mac at home and a PC at work, and I would take the Mac any day of the week. Easiest OS to learn and operate EVER. I should learn Linux, though.
It IS fun to get a Mac thing in there…as often as possible, actually.
I remember when Apple was getting shit for the battery thing. A blog I was reading linked to a recall notice for Compaq. They were recalling recalling thousands of batteries same time as Apple were.
Fact is, Mac’s are high profile when they have issues because it’s reletively rare. A high percentage unit recall is so common in Dellville it’s not even considered side-bar news. Do some in-depth reading on the issue and you’ll find a media bias toward highlighting Apple’s technical issues so strong it can’t possibly be (and indeed isn’t) justified by the numbers.
And then there’s the effect of topic density. There are a small number of issues with Macs, issues that aren’t resolved within days. As a result, a lot of writing happens on a small number of issues. In the Windows world, there are more issues, so there are fewer articles written per issue. This is because there is a finite number of journalists and column inches. Thus the at-a-glance perception is that the Mac issues are worse than the PC issues.
In a way, I think it’s similar to celebrity gossip. Macs represent such a high standard in functionality and design that the press can’t resist but tear into Apple from time to time, regardless of how well Apple meets that standard.
And when they’re done, those same journalists sit right down and use a Mac to publish their magazines and their websites :)

Riiight… that’s why domains like these exist:
http://www.appledefects.com
http://www.macbookrandomshutdown.com/
Or stories like this or this.

:) Thanks for letting me rail a bit, D.

See, it’s a *feature* not a flaw in the Macbooks.

I think I’d have posted it if it was a different kind of computer, too. But it’s just fun to get a mac thing in there now and then.

And THAT, my friends, is how we roll. We’re not brainwashed… we’re PRACTICAL. And I’m giggling right now.

Since many of you here are mac fanatics, what is the main reason you use a mac over any other system?
Im considering getting an macbook but i can’t see the big advantages of the macbook over any other laptop, beside that it looks nice ^^
