100% chance of brain clouding.

Filed under: stuff — meg @ 9:19 am

Whoa, I’m tired.

Like, eyes-falling-shut-caffeine-mainlining-holy-cow-someone-smack-me-in-the-head tired.

I’m still functioning perfectly well and getting stuff done, but I really have nothing beyond the energy it takes for “official” tasks. When I’m done working or, say, walking upright, I just end up staring into space and dabbing daintily at the drool at the corner of my mouth.

I’ve actually been fried for a couple of days, which is either an indicator that I’m getting sick… or that the hormones continue to be a lame presence in my life.

Catherine already has strep, though. So I think I’ll just let HER be the sick one, and I’ll continue being the Endocrinology Rubik’s Cube.

So.

I need you people to, uh, blog for me, if we’re all going to get through this. Well, not BLOG for me, per se, but tell me how you are and what you’re up to so I can escape my own sorry migraine-infested head and glory in the excitement and wonder of your lives. I mean, unless they’re like this.

Then I’ll just look at you awkwardly.

Ready? Everyone? EVEN THE LURKERS?!

GO!

    1. Where are you currently located? (home, work, coffee shop, a mountain peak, a safe house in Brazil…)
    2. What are you currently wearing? If you could be wearing anything, what would it be?
    3. What was the last thing you ate? What do you WISH was the last thing you ate?
    4. If you were starring in a Hollywood production of your own life today, what would the soundtrack be? Who should direct? Who should your co-stars be?
    5. What was the last thing you laughed at?
    6. What do you wish you were doing right this moment?
    7. How would you describe your mood?
    8. Can I get you a beverage?
    9. Some ice cream?
    10. A hug?

    3. Honeynut Cheerios. Wish: a chocolate yummy of any kind paired w/ a latte from the ‘Bucks.
    4. Pat Metheny anything would be the soundtrack. Scorsese should direct because I have an unhealthy obsession w/ the mob–the fantasy kind like in the Godfather, not the reality. And no, my life is nothing like that, but a girl can dream whilst stuck in a cube. Co-starring, um, Steve Carrell and Vince Vaughn. (This answer of mine makes no sense. Sorry.)

    5. What was the last thing you laughed at? My daughter having a drama queen moment.

    7. Worn
    8. Iced tea would be great.
    9. With chocolate.
    10. Sure

  11. Kurt Says:

  13. Anna Says:

    (a persistent lurker emerges)
    1. I’m in my little room in Missoula, MT.
    2. Still haven’t gotten out of my morning workout gear, so black yoga pants and black t-shirt it is.
    3. Made my self a delectable little salad with chickpeas and tofu and my most recent weakness - Annie’s Goddess Dressing.
    4. I’d like to say it would be a mix of thoughtful hip-hop and some old school rap ala Tupac (I like to think of myself as keeping my head up and rising above it at all times), but to be more accurate it would be some Journey, angry grrrl music and then a little outlaw country. I don’t have a fondness for any particular director except perhaps Pedro Almodovar and that might be strange since I don’t speak Spanish. For my co-stars I’ll take the cast of The Office.
    5. My roomie and I were trying to find the dance of joy from Perfect Strangers on YouTube (unsuccessful) and along the way we came upon various other dances of joy which amused us.
    6. Writing the next big wry and insightful essay for The Believer.
    7. Effectively stabilized.
    8. How about some coffee?
    9. Is it coffee ice cream?
    10. I’ve been sitting in my workout clothes for about 5 hours now, so I wouldn’t inflict that on anyone.

  14. jaime Says:

    1. My home office, Campbell River BC

    5. A 3 year old being silly
    6. a very warm and sunny beach
    7. tired
    8. A hot strong coffee with a smidge of milk please!
    9. not right now thanks
    10. if it’s from you Meg…anytime!

  15. Sandy Says:

    1. At home in Sweden with my feet up on the desk, keyboard in my lap, thinking about thinking about going to bed.
    2. I am wearing black socks, black dress pants and a hot pink shirt under a black cardigan. My pjs and a warm robe, but I’m too lazy to put the keyboard down and unrecline from my comfy computer chair.
    3. A Snickers bar. That is the exactly the last thing I want to have eaten as it was the first indulgence in 2½ weeks of calorie counting.
    4. Sorry, no imagination today and my life is not that interesting.
    5. My husband, he’s a pretty darn funny guy.
    6. Holding my grand daughter.
    7. Tired.
    8. Diet root beer, thanks.
    9. In the root beer? Yummy!
    10. Absolutely, and you’ll get one back.

  16. meg Says:

    1. In my office. Well, at my office. I just have myown desk.
    2. Dark jeans, black v-neck wooly sweater, pink tank, sandals.
    3. A turkey club on cranberry sourdough. That was pretty damn good. But I always want sushi.
    4. Hmmm… I think I’d like an eclectic soundtrack, with everything from John Legend to Ryan Adams. And I want to star opposite Bill Murray. To direct? Gosh. Spike Jonze?
    5. McSweeney’s.
    6. Lying on a very warm beach, being tanned without being cancerous, sipping something cool, and getting ready to run into the waves.
    7. Decent. Tired.
    8. Coffee. Please.
    9. I’m actually feeling too chilly.
    10. Might look weird, self-hugging at work.

  17. Denise Says:

    1. Central Florida. In my parents’ house. Watching an E! True
    Hollywood Story about rockstar daughters.
    2. I’m wearing cargo pants and a short sleeved dark blue t-shirt. I wish I was wearing a sweater and one of those cushy vest things that keep out the cold. Not that I’m cold, but because I look cute in
sweaters and I’m in a PMS-y “I’ll never look cute again” mood.
    3. I ate some twizzlers. I’m pretty content with that. I’d eat twizzlers until my gallbladder seized.
    4. This question is always the hardest to me, because there are about 356983745 songs and artists I would include. I don’t know much about directors, so anyone who doesn’t completely blow would be nice. As for
costars, I would pick people that no one knew. And it would be an indie sort of movie.
    5. My boyfriend’s text message
    6. Moving
    7. See question 2
    8. Sure! I can offer you milk, Diet Coke, Gatorade, and some bottled water.

    2. I am currently wearing blue jeans and long sleeved T. I’m pretty happy wearing this right now.
    3. Last thing I ate was an orange. Since I came of the nicotine patches I have been eating A LOT of oranges. Also happy with it being an orange.
    4. Bowie’s Aladdin Sane for the soundtrack. Bruce Bereford to direct because he did Driving Miss Daisy, probably the most boring film I have ever seen. They ’should’ be Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes and Jennifer Jason Leigh … if there’s any justice in this fantasy world, that’s who they would be.
    5. Your link to aging Finish disco teachers.
    6. Drinking beer or sleeping.
    7. Mood = tired but optimistic denial. Is that a mood?
    8. Yes, that’s sweet of you. Beer? Keith’s?
    9. No thanks, trying to lose weight.
    10. Always.

    2. Dark, straight jeans, gray vest and red ballet flats. I would be wearing huge stretch pants and a tank top right now if I could be.
    3. Turkey Asiago cheese bagel with sprouts and cucumbers, potato salad and a pickle. It was really good…so good I can’t wish for anything else right now.
    4. Soundtrack would be some songs from Tegan & Sara, Dawn Kinnard, & Ani Difranco. I would like Steven Soderbergh to direct it, and Jake Gyllenhaal and Kate Winselt to co-star. God that would be cool.
    5. When my manager was trying to speak Spanish a second ago. He called me an animal.
    6. Sleeping/eating out/playing cards with friends.
    7. Actually pretty good considering the dark cloud I’ve been under the last little while.
    8. Sure thang, sweetie.
    9. Um, for sure, because you need to try the Girl Scout Samoa ice cream. It’s divine.

    3. What was the last thing you ate? Cheddar cheese and an orange.
What do you WISH was the last thing you ate? Anything exotic and decadent. I am already tired of healthy food.

    4. If you were starring in a Hollywood production of your own life today, what would the soundtrack be? The soundtrack of Fantasia.
Who should direct? Pluto the dog
Who should your co-stars be? Goofy and Eeyore

    5. What was the last thing you laughed at? This morning when I pulled on my mattress to kill a spider and knocked my whole bed off the risers. I was SO relieved that my dog wasn’t under the bed.

    6. What do you wish you were doing right this moment? Sitting in Fiji.

    7. How would you describe your mood? eh.

    8. Can I get you a beverage? No, thank you. I carry my own bottle of water everywhere.

    3. last thing i ate was a cajun chicken pizza, wish the last thing i had eaten was roast chicken
    4. soundtrack = a homemade very very eclectic mix that i have often listened to on the ipod thinking it should be the soundtrack for my life. My friend rachael would be the director, coz you gotta keep your friends in business. Co-stars would be flatmate and kitten
    5. last thing i laughed at was workmate photocopying ECG result upside down and wondering why she had a blank peice of paper
    6. i wish i was sleeping.
    7. meh
    8. please. vanilla coke would be great
    9. oh yes, and even, IN the coke would be supergood
    10. definately

  22. Cat Says:

    1. On the couch. Sick. Just moved from the bed, where I was for the last 4 hours. Bored of bed.

    3. Ice cream. For my throat. The last thing i wish i ate? Mc Donalds.
    4. Probably something by Ennio Morricone.
    5. Okay this is really embarassing. But i’m going to say it anyway. I was drinking my milkshake, for my sore throat, but not using a straw, and I was sipping and it all was just sitting … and then it all came rushing out at the same time and all over my face and down my chest into my bra. Hopefully my milkshake won’t really bring all the boys to the yard. I laughed out loud at myself.
    6. I wish I was sitting on a beach in Hawaii with not a care in the world.
    7. Groggy.
    8. Yes please. Pulpy orange juice.
    9. No thanks. Already have some. Everywhere.
    10. Yes please.

  23. Texas Single Girl Says:

I am de-lurking just because you told me to…I’m obedient like that.

    1) Still at work, trying to make up for going to class on Tuesday afternoon.
    2) Tennis shoes, jeans, and my job’s polo shirt - my choice today, because it long, soft, and comfy.
    3) Pizza @ CiCi’s Pizza for lunch…I wish I had eaten a salad. Stress eating is not good for me. Actually, I really wish I had eaten homemade pasta and stuffed cupcakes with cream cheese icing.
    4) I think my life would be a really boring version of Bridget Jones’s Diary. Only without Mark Darcy and all the cute English stuff. Basically, it would be a single girl in an apartment moping around and eating the entire contents of her fridge.
    5) One of the people I work with telling my boss to get a Mac laptop because “the Mac guy in the commercials is so much cooler!” He was serious.
    6) I wish I were at home, laying on the futon, with both kitties on top of/next to me.
    7) I am tired, ready to go home, but satisfied because I got a lot done today.
    8) Yes, a margarita please.
    9) Nah, I don’t really like ice cream. The cupcakes mentioned above would be nice.
    10) Who turns down hugs?

  24. B Says:

    4. Aretha’s Chain of fools, Martin Scorsese, Uma Thurman

Starring with me should be: Sandra Bullock, Wanda Sykes, Tom Hanks, and Brent Butt and the entire cast of Corner Gas.
Should be directed by John Wu.

    5. I just laughed at the thought of John Wu directing a story about my life. (It was kind of a Betty Rubble laugh)

    3. I last ate cherry pie alamode with coffee. I WISH I had room for TWO pieces of cherry pie alamode.
    4. My soundtrack would be Liz Phair, Beethoven, and Biggie, which sums up my crazy life. Penny Marshall would direct because it’s a comedy, duh! And my co-stars would be Drew Barrymore and Zack Braff, only because I think we could be bff’s.
    5. I last laughed at myself
    6. I wish I were asleep right now- it’s almost 2am.

At work, but I’ve finished for the day and am waiting to catch a plane.

    2. What are you currently wearing? If you could be wearing anything, what would it be?

Blue jeans, a red t-shirt that says “My record collection can beat up your record collection”, and some nice boots. I’m pretty happy with it. I wish my black jeans had dried in time to wear today though.

    3. What was the last thing you ate? What do you WISH was the last thing you ate?

A Turkish lamb sausage sandwich. I was pretty happy with that, too, to be honest.

    4. If you were starring in a Hollywood production of your own life today, what would the soundtrack be? Who should direct? Who should your co-stars be?

Let’s go with ‘Low’, by David Bowie. I’d like Ed Wood to direct. And Rinko Kikuchi to co-star.

    5. What was the last thing you laughed at?

    This: http://www.girlsarepretty.com/blog/true_lava_always_day.html

I am hiding away in my office in my warm, cozy home in freakin’ freezin’ New England.

    2. What are you currently wearing?

    3. What was the last thing you ate?
Greek yogurt with blueberries and a touch of honey.

Something totally ethnic and spicy and warm. Moroccan or Indian, perhaps.

    4. If you were starring in a Hollywood production of your own life today, what would the soundtrack be? Who should direct? Who should your co-stars be?

Soundtrack? Some romantic standards and some Hawaiian slack key stuff because the location would be Hawaii.

Co-stars? George Clooney and Andy Garcia - they would be fighting over my affections, of course.

    Director? No clue.

Of course, I have entered the twilight zone of fantasy here - I could not even come up with a thing for my real life.
