it’s the end of the week as we know it, and I feel fine.

Filed under: stuff — meg @ 9:26 am

It’s Friday!

It’s not raining!

My coffee is fabulous! Theresa just brought me a latte! For no reason at all!

I’m leaving work early! I wish it was for a fun reason! Like going to play with baby chicks! Or baby ducks! Baby birds are awesome, unless they are still just beaks and eyes and tissue-skin with no feathers!

We’re going to go out for dinner tonight just because we can! We might use a coupon!

I’m ending all my sentences with exclamation points!

I’m trying really hard to be cheerful about certain other items that are occurring today, but it’s in my nature to fret about them. Just a little. Just enough to know I’m still alive and still OCD and still strong and still the kind of girl who gets her insides silently in a knot while smiling on the outside. (Or mostly smiling. Without teeth.)

Because I am.

You know it.

So, more questions, because my usual response to stress is, “Let’s think about something else! How are you?”

What’s the best song you’ve heard in the last month or so?
What’s the best thing you’ve eaten in the last month or so?
Who’s the most interesting person you’ve come across in the last month or so?
What’s the primary thought in your head as of late?

There. Answer those. Consider it your patriotic duty. And if you don’t live in my country, why NOT? That’s just silly.

Later, turtles.

P.S. Strange note: why do I keep wanting to call people “goat” lately?

I don’t even know what I mean by it.

You are such a goat! Why are you being such a goat! That man is a total goat! Gah, that email is such a goat email! Why be a goat when you can be nice! Meh, goat! Seriously, is there a need for this goat behaviour?

I honestly wonder about my brain all the time.

What’s the best song you’ve heard in the last month or so? Well, I’m still pretty stuck on “Love and Mercy” by Brian Wilson. Have been since December.
What’s the best thing you’ve eaten in the last month or so? Oh, um — the Lindt white chocolate bar I just finished.
Who’s the most interesting person you’ve come across in the last month or so? — My pal Judy, who attended a peace conference!
What’s the primary thought in your head as of late? Why can’t I get Legal to approve my damn web seminar?

You know what? I am going to actually answer your questions this time.

What’s the best thing you’ve eaten in the last month or so? It’s hard to come up with an answer to this right now because I’m eating as I write this, but I made chicken and rice and salad a while ago, with garlic and homemade vinaigrette and various tasy things, and I felt very proud of myself.
Who’s the most interesting person you’ve come across in the last
month or so? I’ve been meeting a lot of people lately. There’s one who’s the accidental friend of the roommate of the former roommate of my current roommate. An extremely tenuous connection on paper, but it’s kind of a fun way to make friends.
What’s the primary thought in your head as of late? One lyric of “Code Monkey” by Jonathan Coulton. I love the guy’s music but I’m ready for it to go away. That lyric, and the fact that I’m going to miss the person in my office who’s going away, are taking up a significant part of my brain right now.

-”Not Ready to Make Nice” — only song I’ve d/l’d from iTunes this month.
-I had a fabulous pasta dish last night with smoked chicken and sun-dried tomatoes.
-A director named Jack Lynn, who played the book seller in “Yentl.” I interviewed him for an article I was writing. Fabulous man.
-Same thought as the month before and the year before that, and I’m not going to share.

  4. Warwick Says:

    - “Coffee Stain” by Sarah Harmer, or “Lonesome Tears” Live by Beck w/ the Flaming Lips

    - Umberto Menghi made lunch for us when I was shooting a commercial with him. The seared Ahi Tuna was amazing.

    - Umberto Menghi (read his bio at http://www.umberto.com/page4a.htm)

OOps…the formatting on that last item is kind of screwed up because I didn’t leave any spaces. Sorry!

Oh Meaghan, on a day that I’m just filled to the brim with angst and frustration, reading your post here lightened me up a little. Thanks for the joy - even if it’s just masking stress…

1 - I really like one that’s on the radio a lot recently, and was performed at the Grammy’s the other night - don’t know then name of the band, but it’s a big black guy with a big mouth, singing “Maybe I’m craaaaazy!….”

2 - A spoonful of Nutella, just this morning.

3 - My husband. Not that I just came across him this past month, but he continues to strike me as interesting…

    4 - Arrrrrrrrg!

Not only is it FRIDAY - but for me, it is the beginning of a WEEK OFF. I work for a school and we have winter break this coming week. Woo-hoo!

    Now for the questions:

What’s the best song you’ve heard in the last month or so?
Well, it was at a live concert I went to. Raul Malo singing Roy Orbison’s “Cryin.” He reduced me to tears. Seriously.

What’s the best thing you’ve eaten in the last month or so?
Definitely the homemade mac and cheese - with 100% full-fat, real cheese and milk. Haven’t had it in AGES - and it is one of my fav comfort foods.

Who’s the most interesting person you’ve come across in the last month or so?
Raul Malo - the singer mentioned above. Met him at a meet and greet after a concert. What a nice guy! And what a voice!

What’s the primary thought in your head as of late?
WHEN will this awful freezing cold winter end?!!

  9. Neil Says:

I love posts which have a lot of !!!!!!

  10. Denise Says:

When I was initially reading the post (I tend to read posts more than once to make sure I’ve thorougly understood everything), the little voice in my head that does all of the reading kept making the ends of the sentences trail up a little bit.
    It was quite hilarious.

What’s the best song you’ve heard in the last month or so? Shampoo Suicide - Broken Social Scene

What’s the best thing you’ve eaten in the last month or so? Sweet and Sour Chicken at OPM

Who’s the most interesting person you’ve come across in the last month or so? The 4 year old who invited me to his birthday party and told me I could eat Spiderman’s head, but onlt the cake and not the real guy.

What’s the primary thought in your head as of late?
I am far too tired to be functioning at this high level.
