a million things.
… are jumbled in my head, and I can’t get a single one of them to stay on my screen long enough for me to press the publish button. That drives me mad.
I can usually snap out my thoughts like a crisp sheet from a summer clothesline. But today, I can barely get them out of the basket and into the sun.
So, some questions:
1. Are you more engaged by sarcasm or gentility on the internet?
2. Do you believe your political views define you?
3. What makes someone worthy of a relationship?
4. Do you find it hard to get up in the morning?
5. Why am I such a chicken about going to the doctor? And why am I dreading tomorrow as a result?
6. What’s the last most beautiful thing you saw?
7. If you could meet any one person you don’t know, who would it be? Why?
8. Are you easy to love?
Just curious. And is anyone else craving KFC?
Weird.

1. Are you more engaged by sarcasm or gentility on the internet?
- Sarcasm. I like me some sarcasm.
2. Do you believe your political views define you?
- I don’t believe so, but other people seem to define me by my political views. So I guess, in a way.
3. What makes someone worthy of a relationship?
- Being alive.
4. Do you find it hard to get up in the morning?
- Nope. Not any more.
5. Why am I such a chicken about going to the doctor? And why am I dreading tomorrow as a result?
- Because, if you’re like me, not knowing is easier than knowing and then dealing with what you know. The fear that there’s something to know and then deal with is a tough one.
6. What’s the last most beautiful thing you saw?
- Thing as in not a person? A Mark Rothko painting at the Tate Modern last week.
7. If you could meet any one person you don’t know, who would it be? Why?
- Nicole Kidman. Is she as much fun to talk to as she is to look at?
8. Are you easy to love?
- Apparently not.

1. Gentility.
2. No.
3. I agree with James: Being alive.
4. Some days.
5. [no answer]
6. The Valentine’s day card my husband gave me last night (yes, last night).
7. Lori from Fresh Perspective (http://www.freshperspective.com/). We seem to have a lot in common, and it’d be fun to make a new friend.
8. No. Sadly but truly, no.

1. Are you more engaged by sarcasm or gentility on the internet?
It probably depends on the day and my mood, but generally, I like sarcasm.
2. Do you believe your political views define you?
No. I hope I am defined by something much more substantial and important.
3. What makes someone worthy of a relationship?
I think people are intrinsically WORTHY of relationship. But an ability to think of the other person first sometimes and to tell the truth all of the time are nice attributes to have in a relationship.
4. Do you find it hard to get up in the morning?
SO HARD!!! Especially on days like today when it’s “cold”. I put cold in quotes because it’s never really cold here in South Texas. But sometimes we think it’s cold.
5. Why am I such a chicken about going to the doctor? And why am I dreading tomorrow as a result?
It’s like dating–the more you get burned the harder it is to want to do it again.
6. What’s the last most beautiful thing you saw?
The sun coming through the frost on my windshield this morning was pretty.
7. If you could meet any one person you don’t know, who would it be? Why?
Roger Federer so I could poke him and prove my theory that he is not a person, but a robot developed by the Swiss for tennis domination.
8. Are you easy to love?
Sadly, I try too hard to make it easy to love me.

1. Are you more engaged by sarcasm or gentility on the internet?
I like blogs that manage to include both, although I tend more toward the sarcasm side.
2. Do you believe your political views define you?
No, I believe that what defines me also defines my political views.
3. What makes someone worthy of a relationship?
That’s a loaded question. Of course everyone is worthy of some kind of relationship, but we all have a sliding scale of reasons why some people are worthy of more significant relationships in our lives, don’t we?
4. Do you find it hard to get up in the morning?
OH MY GOSH YES. I have convinced myself recently that I can get out of bed at 7:25 and still get to work at 8:00. This has not yet worked, but I keep trying.
5. Why am I such a chicken about going to the doctor? And why am I dreading tomorrow as a result?
Doctors are very chicken-worthy. They have scary news and pokey things.
6. What’s the last most beautiful thing you saw?
The sonogram of my future neice or nephew!
7. If you could meet any one person you don’t know, who would it be? Why?
Just one person? Hmmmm…I think Bill Clinton would be fascinating. Or Joaquin Phoenix, for obvious reasons.
8. Are you easy to love?
I am thinking no.
Also, I was not craving KFC until a minute ago, but now I could really go for some mashed potatoes and gravy.
February 16th, 2007 at 7:29 am
mmm
KFC.

I don’t usually answer the lists, but this one intrigued me, so…
1. Sarcasm is a-much a-more a-fun
2. Yes to a certain extent… in that they seem a simple way to define someone’s world view as good or evil.
3. Compassion, humour, being your biggest fan, cheering you on in your success and propping you up in times of failure or pain.
4. OH MY DEAR LORD YOU HAVE NO IDEA.
5. I am the same way about the dentist. I mean, if they don’t TELL you something’s wrong and you have to have something horrible done to fix it, then really you have no problems, right? My teeth hurt…
6. Why am I struggling so much to answer this one? This is worrisome…
7. Hugh Laurie :). Because he is the sexiest man on earth PLUS he’s British PLUS he was in BlackAdder PLUS he rides a motorbike. And? He writes books. *sigh*… I’ll use him as my answer to #6 as well.
8. Depends on what the expectations are…
February 16th, 2007 at 10:01 am
1. sarcasm
2. to some degree i think they do.
3. i don’t really have an answer for this because i have noticed that for me, it may differ from relationship to relationship.
4. i find it hard to get up and leave my kitty in the mornings.
5. many, many people are chicken about going to doctors. i think they call it white coat syndrome. i work with a woman that won’t even make an eye doctor or dentist appointment.
6. my kitty giving me the slow blink that means “i love you” in cat language this morning.
7. anderson cooper. i think he is interesting.
8. sadly, no… i don’t think i am.
9. yeah, sometimes. i love original recipe.
February 16th, 2007 at 11:13 am
As soon as you mentioned it, the craving attacked.
February 16th, 2007 at 11:20 am
Lisa! Your answer for 9. made me realise that maybe I do that, too. I think I knew that already. At some level. But had never really clocked it. But, you know, having a little bit of an epiphany here.
February 16th, 2007 at 12:13 pm
1. sarcasm, if well done.
2. Probably, up to a point.
3. Loyalty, honesty, humor
4. Definitely not–I’m a “leap out of bed” girl.
5. We’re all afraid of getting bad news…or of having to get on a scale.
6. The sight of Yosemite out the plane window on our flight to Burbank yesterday.
7. I can’t think of anybody. If I wanted to meet them that badly, I’d be too embarrassed to speak to them.
8. Sometimes, with the right people.
Just curious. And is anyone else craving KFC?
February 16th, 2007 at 2:22 pm
1. sarcasm, but in a kind light - I can’t stand reading people’s sarcastic and mean rants about people or things they don’t like. There has to be kindness and respect mixed in.
2. Um, I don’t think so….(I’m trying to think of what my political views are right now…)
3. The ability to change, and admit that you’re wrong, and to sacrifice some of your own desires (or sometimes needs) for the sake of loving someone else.
4. Not really.
5. I’m not sure. Maybe you’re worried that you’ll get some bad news, or get a guilt trip.
6. My 1 & a half year-old daughter, sleeping next to me.
7. Hmmm. Maybe C S Lewis? I don’t know.
8. Hell, yeah.
February 16th, 2007 at 5:44 pm
1. Are you more engaged by sarcasm or gentility on the internet? Light sarcasm is fine.
2. Do you believe your political views define you?
Probably somewhat - just ask my poor sufferin’ family and friends.
3. What makes someone worthy of a relationship?
I do not really underastand the question. Everyone is worthy of a relationship at some point with someone.
4. Do you find it hard to get up in the morning?
OMG - YES!!!!! I am a night owl for sure.
5. Why am I such a chicken about going to the doctor? And why am I dreading tomorrow as a result?
Because you are like most of us. None of us LIKE it. None of want to hear anything is really wrong. And like me, you have chronic issues that make going to the MD a lousy experience.
6. What’s the last most beautiful thing you saw?
My new baby granddaughter. Tristan Eloise. :)
7. If you could meet any one person you don’t know, who would it be? Why?
Bono - no question. For the obvious reasons - I want to sit over tea and chat about world affairs.
8. Are you easy to love?
Um, I think so…ask hubby of 32 years.
Just curious. And is anyone else craving KFC?
A definite NO to that. But aformentioned hubby would LOVE some. :)

1. Are you more engaged by sarcasm or gentility on the internet?
Sarcasm, absolutely. Dooce is my heroine. If I could write sarcastically that well, I would write whole novels of sarcasm, with a smidgen of plot just to give me new targets for my biting wit.
2. Do you believe your political views define you?
They might if I had some. I feel about politicians like you feel about doctors. Verrrry scary.
3. What makes someone worthy of a relationship?
A loving heart. A cute butt doesn’t hurt either.
4. Do you find it hard to get up in the morning?
Depends on what I am getting up for. But getting up in the dark always seems inhumane.
5. Why am I such a chicken about going to the doctor? And why am I dreading tomorrow as a result?
Because we never go to the doctor expecting great news. We go because we suspect something terrible is going on underneath our skin.
6. What’s the last most beautiful thing you saw?
My best friends’ four-year-old daughter as she ran up to give me a hug.
7. If you could meet any one person you don’t know, who would it be? Why?
Matthew Good, and it’s ALL YOUR FAULT. But seriously, there’s something both fascinating and sexy about a really intelligent man with strong convictions.
8. Are you easy to love?
I am sure the right man will think so.
As for craving KFC…please. Isn’t not craving KFC like sitting in a corner and not thinking about elephants? An irresistible thought.
