10 things I actually want for Valentine’s Day.

Filed under: stuff — meg @ 9:48 am
    A turkey breast sub.
    A pedicure.
    No more headache.
To sing really loudly for a full hour in a place where no one else can hear me.
The biggest latte known to man.
The biggest blueberry muffin known to man. And not one of those oily Costco things, either.
Fresh SugarBath Sugar Lemon shower gel. So I can smell like a Lemonhead.
To avoid the sight of carnations the entire day.
To make a baby laugh really, really hard.
To find a book that I can’t put down.

    I need a book I can’t put down, desperately.

What’s nice about your list is that all of those things are possible.

You know, the singing one is the only impossible one. And the muffin, actually.

here are the last few books i have read and loved:
“the hummingbird’s daughter” luis alberto urrea
    “modoc” ralph helfer
    “the glass castle” jeannette walls
“the history of love” nicole krauss
“snow flower and the secret fan” lisa see

they all go well with a muffin and a latte.

They are doing a carnation sale fund-raiser at my middle school and one of my kids was just really bummed because no one sent one to him. I wanted to tell him that not getting carnations is a GOOD thing. But when you’re 12 I guess you just want the affirmation. So I gave him a lollipop. Which is actually illegal here in Texas. I am a Valentines criminal!

Oh, and I’m telling you–What a Girl Wants by Kristen Billerbeck is total fluff, but you can’t put it down.

I just picked up A Bridge to Terabithia last weekend because I remembered loving it growing up. I couldn’t put it down. Luckily it was only a two hour read. But still. Made me ball my eyes out like the post about your parents.

The Golden Age by Gore Vidal is a serious page-turner.
