go bears go.

Filed under: Everything else — meg @ 7:19 pm

Well, my boy and his Patriots lost their championship effort. I’m still a huge fan of Mr. Brady, though. He is a good man and a GREAT football player.

And I’m a Chicago fan from the days I would watch MNF on my dad’s knee, all the way back to Perry and Payton and McMahon.

So here’s to the Bears over the Colts in the big game! GO BEARS GO!

I’ll be watching.

I won’t be watching. The Bears tend to lose when I watch.

    *grumble*

sadly, da bears outplayed my team last week and I am still in mourning.

Packer fan here. Clearly I will be rooting for the Colts. Heh. Was pulling for the Saints only because of the Cinderella Story factor, and am SO over the Patriots. I have a soft spot for the Bears, yes, but have been pulling for Peyton and his men to make a Superbowl appearance for a couple of years now. Of course, they’ll have to play like they did the second half today and leave that first quarter behavior behind.

    I love football.

Can I ask why you dislike Peyton so? You are totally entitled to your opinion, I’m just wondering why. I love the Colts…however, I have loved them since way before Peyton. I think I have loved them since the day I was born. It’s probably my father’s influence, as he has been a Colts fan since their Baltimore days. I grew up watching the Colts and learning to love them. Yesterday was a sweet, sweet day for me! I think I was actually rolling on the floor in excitement at one point. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time! GO COLTS!

Hey Stacy! I love that you got in on this post — I knew you were a football girl!

    About Peyton…

I think he has an air of ingraciousness, a tendency to blame his mistakes on others, a strong sense of entitlement born of family legacy rather than skill and mettle, and way too omnipresent a role as a pitchman in the media (without a Super Bowl ring, especially!)

He’s not one to apologize for screwing anything up, or even show a little humility. Confidence is one thing — athletes need a ton of it, along with a bit of arrogance, too — but a boldface lack of accountability to the people who sign your checks?

Every team ends up with annoying players now and then, and that shouldn’t affect a longtime fan like you. I admire that! You go, girl! I would be the exact same way.

But I am a Tom Brady girl through and through, and his “quiet good leader with actual championships” vibe makes Peyton look like a bit of a primadonna without a tutu.

Tom Brady! Now there is a celeb for you! And such a sweet ass, too.

  8. meg Says:

Oh, believe me, Heather. I am ALL up in the Brady action.

Being from New England and a HUGE PATS fan, yesterday ended up being a nail-biting, sorry day. We are all walking around a bit down around here today, to say the least. But we know the Pats are still GOOD and Brady-boy is still GREAT. And there always is NEXT YEAR. And it won’t come soon enough. :)

I must confess that I was rooting for the Saints over the Bears, mostly because of the “Cinderella story,” just like it was for the Pats in the beginning. Oh well. I guess I don’t care who wins the Super Bowl now.

P.S. Meg, I totally agree with you on your assessment of Peyton Manning. I lost any remnant of respect for him over the past week as he whined and begged Indy fans to not sell tickets to Pats fans. You KNOW “our boy” would NEVER do that.

P.P.S. Brady, who was recently back on the singles market, is now going out with that model from Brazil - Giselle. But you probably already knew that. ;)

    IT’S JUST A RUMOUR.

    ;)

Meg, you give an interesting, fair, and probably pretty accurate assessment of Peyton. Do you remember the Manning/Vanderjagt war? It was interesting to see. I admit, Peyton does seem a bit aloof and at times can be egotistical. At this point in time though, I just don’t care! He did not get the team into the Super Bowl, they all did it together. In the game against the Ravens last week he didn’t throw a single TD pass…the defense won the game for him. That is something I love to see, because although he may not recognize his team’s effort, the fans do and they have now been rewarded for working as a team, despite one player’s superstar status.

Honestly, I have loved football my entire life and I have always wondered what it would be like to have my team in the big game. Now I know and I am thrilled. I can’t wait for the big game. The “BOYS CLUB” is now officially all married or engaged or seriously dating so they are finally allowing girls to come to their party. I’m excited, mainly because the host has a HUGE tv with HDTV! I can’t wait for the atmosphere, the food, and the Colt’s win!

I will give your man Brady props. In my university days, although I was and always have been a Colts fan, I thought Brady was a delicious treat to look at. He is also a strong leader and I almost-but not quite-felt sorry for him when he threw the interception at the end of the game on Sunday. Then I threw that emotion out the window, jumped out of my chair, and fell on the ground screaming YES YES YES YES YES! Go Colts Go!
