It’s Post #400!

Filed under: stuff — meg @ 4:44 pm

Yes indeed — the 400th post since the official launch of this blog on June 8th, 2006.

(Actually, there have been closer to 600, but I’m a bit delete-happy.)

The traffic has increased about 500% since the first day we kicked this thing into gear, and I’ve had a lot of fun getting to know brand new readers — all the while discovering new blogs through your comments.

And I’ve reconnected with old friends, too (thanks, Google!)

Thank you for being here — I can’t tell you how much it means to me as a writer to have all these relationships and all this feedback, and this incredible outlet to share my heart and my weirdness.

I’m still confused at times by how honest and open to be at this site — not in terms of maintaining lies in my life, but in terms of knowing how much of me anyone wants to know at this level. I’ve always had my shyness and my boldness fairly strongly in balance… but here?

I’m not always sure.

I never want to hurt my family or my friends with my words — or, you know, scare off eligible menfolks — by letting too much of the crazy fly.

But quite frankly, I’m not crazy.

I’m not falling apart, I’m putting things back together.

I’m looking for good things out of life, after getting too used to living halfway.

And this blog is a big part of that plan.

I come here to be real, I come here to write, and I come here to get to know all of you. And that’s pretty amazing.
Whatever else happens is cake.

Specifically, this cake:

Dig in, honeybees.

Oh, to be open or to be forever self-editing. The question of the ages. Or something. I dunno the answer which is best for you, but I know that I like to be as truthful and true-to-life as I can, only because it can be quite theraputic. I edit myself enough in real-life; why should I feel the need to edit myself on the interweb also?

If a man isn’t okay with your blog-self, he is not the man for you, Meg.

Happy 400th post! I love cake!

happy 400th, and thanks for the cake.

what i love most about your writing, aside from the hilarity and genuineness and word-craftiness, is the boldness and confidence with which you express honestly your feelings and observations. you are an amazing writer, and i will continue to read it, crazy or not.
