The sixth question for November…
… continues along the lines of “personal care.” Because I really like to shake y’all down for the intimate details of your lives. I think you owe me that much!
Okay. You don’t, actually. At all. But the nosy thing? Yeah. In full effect.
- GIRLS! Or guys, I guess, though this seems less probable. Makeup. I want the full rundown of what’s on your face. And if it’s just Chap Stick and magic, well, give us that, too. That’s what I’m wearing in that picture to your right, there, as a personal reality challenge to myself. PUT UP PHOTOS THAT JUST LOOK LIKE, EH… YOU.
- Are you an accumulator of product? Do you love the product? What product do you accumulate?
- How much are you tethered to new product launches and trends?
- Do you do the same thing to get ready that you did ten years ago?
- Why did my new blowdryer spark and shut off this morning? After sucking in my hair through the back vent? DAMMIT.
- Do you wear fragrance? If so… what?

1. What’s on my face? Two eyes, one nose, one mouth… and some Olay Regenerist moisturizer with SPF 15. For I must preserve my porcelain complexion.
2. I am not an accumulator of product, beyond the essentials, that is. And by essentials, I mean one bottle of cleanser, one bottle of moisturizer, shampoo, and conditioner.
3. I have no tethers — I am free, FREE! of tetherment.
4. Pretty much.
5. It’s infested with gremlins, I’m afraid. They’re after your lovely hair.
6. No, because almost of it give me a headache. Very sad, that.

Um…the dog ate my homework?

I almost wrote into this post: Rick and Eric, I look forward to your eminently smartass replies.

1. I own some make-up, but it is so old I would be scared to wear it. I only wear mascara when I go out on the town which is never anymore.
2. I accumulate shampoo, yummy smelling shampoo.
3. I’m not, I am an advertisers worst nightmare..I never bite what they are pushing
4. yes
5. because you were blow drying your hair upside down???
6. sometimes lavendar oil, man I sound like a total hippy…I swear I’m not!

Nothing on my face. Though I may slap on some tangerine-flavored chapstick. I put on sunscreen ONCE last week and now I have two giant zits. Sigh.
I accumulate lotions, mostly because people give them to me and I think they smell too foul to use. That La Source crap I got at BlogHer smells exactly like cat pee to me. But it is in such a nice box.
No, I pride myself on my stubborn hard-headedness.
Blowdriers have short, tragic lives.
You already know I am freakishly oversensitive to all sensory stimulation. Perfume falls in that category. A trip past the cologne section at a department store is good for a 2-hour headache. Fortunately, natural plant oils are usually good to me, so I have a little amazingly expensive ($21 for 1 mL) jasmine oil I dab on and a lemony natural cologne from my crazy aromatherapist chick.

My face, ugh…unfortunately my attempts to wear “product” usually result in mascara in the hair and leave-in conditioner on my cheek, deodorant on my shirt and dried blood from a failed attempt at having my legson the shin of my least stained slacks. My husband owns an ad agency, so I let him be tethered and I steal the things I like. As for morning routine, the splitting headache in the morning is from the early wake up call from the infant and toddler and the late night writing copy, rather than the tremors of a morning after hangover. I try to overpower any odors from the shiny, matted stains acquired on my clothes in the mad dash to get the family out with a bit of Aveeno baby lotion or a smear of the lemon stting on the counter.

oh sweet love of Sephora, how i adore product.
1. today i ran out of the house at five-past-seven, so mascara and lipgloss is all. i am a mac (cosmetics and computers, but i am talking makeup here) fanatic.
2. i am an accumulator of product, i love the product. for makeup, it is all mac (good lord you should see the collection of eyeshadow that i don’t even wear…i think i will take a photo and send it to you, meg, for it is downright unbelievable). since becoming an independent consultant for Arbonne International, purveyors of fine Swiss formulated skin care products i have become an avid collector of luxurious lotions and scrubs and shampoos and washes…all Arbonne, and all lovely. and all vegan!
3. not really, though i want to try the new mac studio spray (or whatever it’s called) foundation in a can. airbrush makeup…it’s like photoshopping your face before the picture is taken.
4. way less makeup than 10 years ago.
5. demons
6. on occasion…for fancy days i wear kate spade perfume (don’t know if it has a name), for regular days it is “maybe baby” by benefit cosmetics, and also origins ginger essence from time to time.

i use oil of olay “anti-wrinkle” moisturizer and small bee’s lip balm. that’s pretty much it.
some days i might spray on a pump or two of calvin klein’s eternity moment or issy miayki’s l’eau d’issy.

1. ….Makeup. I want the full rundown of what’s on your face. And if it’s just Chap Stick and magic, well, give us that, too….
Make-up - yes. Since 15 years old. Never leave the house without it. Otherwise, I would look like a corpse. I use the Bare Minerals make-up now for foundation, blush, shadow, etc. Love it! I also use mascara and glossy sheer lipstick - usually a pinky mocha color.
2. Are you an accumulator of product? Do you love the product? What product do you accumulate?
I am currently a recovering “product junkie” in a 12-step program. ;) I have partially stopped the insanity by finding the perfect potions for my face and make-ups. I am having trouble giving up the great smelling body lotions and hair products, though.
3. How much are you tethered to new product launches and trends?
Not tethered like I used to be. Step 6 of the 12-step program. ;)
4. Do you do the same thing to get ready that you did ten years ago?
No way. I am 10 years older and that requires more spackle and duct tape than before.
5. Why did my new blowdryer spark and shut off this morning? After sucking in my hair through the back vent? DAMMIT.
I have gone through dozens of blow driers like this. I now keep an emergency one in my closet for just this kinbd of crisis.
6. Do you wear fragrance? If so… what?
Usually “Laundromat” by Demeter or “Amazing Grace” by Philosophy. I love the smell of CLEAN.

You look beautiful in that picture.
1)Classified Cosmetics Foundation, Benefit Boing Concealer, Benefit Eye Bright, Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder, Mac Blot Powder, Mac Bronzing Powder, Cover Girl Cheekers Blush, Stila Eyeshadow, Ramy Eyeliner, Maybelline mascara, and Clinque Lipgloss. Whew! That may sound like a lot but I swear I apply it lightly.
2) Boy and howdy. You got a product? I’ll accumulate it.
3) Not too — I’m for the classics; the tried and true products.
4) No. Ten years ago, I wore white eyeliner only and brown eyeliner on my lips. Bah!
5) The super powerful dryers have a mind of their own.
6) Narcisco Rodriguez For Her.

I use it all. It’s too much to list. I love lipstick and nail colors the most….because they’re fun. The things that accumulate the most are those purchase with purchase things that are the wrong color. I don’t go for alot of trendy new things. Just tried and true things. I am weird about fragrances. So many give me headaches and make me sneeze. I’m wearing Sarah Jessica Parker lovely these days.

1. Burt’s Bees lip balm. That’s all that’s ever on my face besides Cetaphil moisturizer.
2. I don’t accumulate any product except multiples of the products that I use regularly. I can’t help but always buy a new bottle of some product that I use, whether I actually need it at that particular moment or not. Something about seeing multiple bottles of my favorite products under my sink makes me feel safe.
3. Not at all. I’m a marketing exec’s worst nightmare.
4. Yes but I’ve since switched shampoo, added conditioner and changed my face wash and moisturizer. Cetaphil is the best.
5. Um, I don’t know?
6. No fragrance, I prefer fragrance free products for sensitive skin…I don’t even have sensitive skin but I just like them better.
