  1. I’m not sure why I’m reminded of this by your post, but I used to work with a guy who drove a water delivery route in Las Vegas. Part of his custom involved apartments of “working girls”, and one of these was Christmas-themed. All year. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and presume you’re just decorating early.

Thanks for the gift-thought. My shopping – even the cerebral/virtual kind, is bound to be last-minute. Don’t give up on me.

Songs – Catherine’s mentioning a song from the dim recesses of history puts me in mind of my favorite Christmas album, songs transcribed by Gustav Holst and performed by an exquisite men’s choir. Favorite song from the album – Lullay my liking.

Another favorite is The Carol of the Bells
Third – Arabian Dance from the Nutcracker. There’s a soaring oboe solo in it that nails me every time.
Fourth – Chipmunk’s Christmas, because it puts me in a certain time & place.

  2. Reddirtroad, the cat in the box and the squirrel in the tree make my dad absolutely die. We watch it ever year, too.

  3. This is awesome! My Christmas stuff always goes up on the Rememberance day weekend.

Pray hard for the Nikon digital SLR…I have a Nikon D50 with a 18-200 lens. Love it! Would love to upgrade…my friend just bought a Nikon D200. Yes, the fun you could have!!

  4. Nothin’ you wanna get me for Christmas? That’s fine. Never mind that I work at a store that sells Nikon SLRs… like I can afford one of those (Nikons are the highest end cameras we sell…)

  5. you are the best! i would love a honeymoon. and i would love for you to get a trip to san diego, because that is my hometown, and a trip to aspen because that is close enough to my current home. and i would also gift you a shopping spree to sephora…purrrrr

i LOVE when choirs sing O Holy Night…shivers on the spine with that one. and i am an absolute sucker for Elvis Presley singing Christmas tunes. like Cat, i absolutely love starbucks red cups during the holidays. i love white twinkly lights. i love drinking spiced cider while walking around outside on cold snowy nights. it’s beginning to feel a lot like christmas…

  6. Thanks for the new camera, Meg! Yeehaw.

I love twinkly lights so much, I keep them up year-round. Yep, in my living room and bedroom.

I’m going to borrow this post and make my own meme. But I may wait until it’s a little closer to Christmas.

  7. I would buy you, Meg, a really fancy coffee machine like this one. Catherine could benefit from this too, I think.

I love “Santa Baby,” “Good King Wenceslas,” and “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” too. But my absolute favorite Christmas song is “We Three Kings.”

I would love a spending spree at Sephora! I am pretty sure I am going to request to be buried there. Do you think they would mind? I would also love a digital camera, an IPod or a ibook. Or an original NES system because now I can’t stop thinking about Super Mario Bros!

My favo(u)rite things about Christmas include the lights at Temple Square, twice-baked potatoes, my mom’s homemade quilts and walking the dogs in the snow. And my birthday, which is 4 days after.

Ooohh! I’m getting excited about the holiday season.

  8. My mom is in the Handel Society choir and they do a performance of the whole Messiah, complete with a singalong Hallelujah Chorus, in WR in Dec. Let me know if you want info.

You’d better not think the xmas party is funny just because I make such a fool of myself every year…
