Hey, y’all okay out there?

Filed under: love, questions — meg @ 2:23 pm

It’s conspicuously quiet around here.

But I know you’re all still out there, because I have the kooky stats to prove it.

I’ve actually noticed the comment dropoff on quite a few blogs, as well as a major posting dropoff. People are feeling… unmotivated? Quiet? Novembery? Busy? Seasonally affected? Ticklish?

It’s hard to say. How are you?

I have always had a large amount of beloved and loving lurkers — especially you Salon alumni — who tend not to comment here, anyhow, so I’m not worried about it. It’s just a curiosity.

The big kids still have stacks of comments , but much of that seems to be stemming from an odd crop of personal blogging controversies that have sprung up as of late (stemming! crop! sprung! You’d think it was springtime in my head), none of which I’ll mention here, since a) I don’t want to show up on search terms, and b) I think meanness on the Web is deserving of nothing but silence.

Unless you insult my mom. Then you get your ass kicked. And smothered with a lovely blanket. (Joking. I’m not messing up that blanket.)

I’m pretty happy to skip controversy here, to say the least.

But what’s going on with you guys? Everyone okay?

I was going to comment on the blanket post to say that you look a little like Alanis Morrisette in that picture and do all of you Canadians look alike and thus resemble Alanis Morrisette? But then I decided that was a silly comment to make since I KNOW that’s not the case but maybe everyone wouldn’t get that I was joking. But now I am making it anyway!
The HUGE difference between my stats and comments always baffles me as well.

I’m doing alright, thank you for asking.

The controversy has been crazy. The blogoshpere can get in one hell of frenzy, that is for sure.

I, for one, am not posting a whole lot lately because I am so mothercrapping busy. It has been a struggle to get to write anything or read other peoples’ sites.

Meg, you’ve made a new fan! I love your words.

    Keep writing–I’m listening.

I’ve been too cranky to comment much. I’m feeling mopey and sorry for myself over the failure of another blossoming romance (with Cilantro Teeth Man). I’m starting to doubt my formerly firmly held belief that it’s better to try and fail than to not try at all. Failing all the time hurts.

i am splendid, though in dire need of a vacation (a fact which was sorely reinforced by your recent vacation recap), in want of a good dinner, and in possession of a wicked sweet tooth (again, made more insatiable by the chocolate covered strawberry photo and the evil halloween candy mocking me from atop my fridge). i could do without the nagging cold i have rattling in my chest, and lingering cough that springs forth without warning and with tremendous force. i imagine all would be made well with a good night’s sleep and a cup of hot tea, but alas, the Bachelor is on tonight, so an early retreat to my warm, cozy bed is all but impossible.

even when i don’t comment (because your words often render me speechless, and to attempt an adequate response would be nothing short of futile) i am still reading, often many times a day.

I’m fine. A little tired. But overall fine, yeah. Thanks for asking!

Can’t keep up, but I have been commenting. What can we do to jump-start these guys?

I’m just chillin’. Looking forward to the holidays coming up. Thinking of writing in my blog again. That’s about it, really.

I was way behind on reading, hence the rash of late comments, because of a major project at work. I’m finally caught up, I think. But, I leave tomorrow for a short road trip. I’m going to visit friends and then my daughter who I haven’t seen since August and who says that she misses me. That feels good. I will, however, endeavor to keep up with your blogginess and even post a comment or two.

I’m just quiet these days, retreating into myself more than usual…got alot of personal crap going on that I can’t blog about since they read my site and I am trying to figure out how to get through it all. I’ve been trying to write it down for myself, get it out of me and onto paper (and by paper I mean my computer), hoping that helps to relieve a bit of the heartache, confusion and things in general.

Other than that, things are fine and mundane and I am eagerly looking foward to the holidays and everything they have to offer. Also? Today is supposed to be unseasonably warm in Sucktown and I can’t wait to open all my windows and have a beer on my deck in the sun.

Your new blanket has inspired me to want to try to learn to knit. I think it will be a perfect hobby for me.

You know I read all the time even if I comment very rarely. I know you love comments though and I’ll try harder in the future. This comment is quite long…does that make up for my lack of comments recently?

I adore you and this site.

I don’t have time to write on my own blog, or comment on yours, but I have to read me some Meg every day. I’m busy, busy, busy, but I love ya, babe.

Hey, Meg. I’m doing alright. It’s so nice for someone to care! How about you? How is everything?

Actually, I have spent quite a bit of time checking out Andorra- on Google Earth, on the net, finding it quite fascinating! Working, too. Lots of work at a soul- sucking, uber-mundane job. So, I occasionally skip off to the blogosphere to see how my faves are doing, or what they are up to.

I just want to say that this is definitely a meat & potatoes blog. I have a real tough time keeping up with the amount of content- that’s not to say that you are a chatterbox, or anything. I just have gotten used to the “two paragraphs every two days” type blogs out there. Thanks for that! and I concur with Jordan. we are listening, but maybe don’t have the time at the moment to comment. We aren’t stopping by and going, ” Hmm… b.o.r.i.n.g.” We are just reading great literary non-fiction and noting that to come back later, to hopefully post. As you can see, it is like a morgue here, so I am taking a little license to give a shout-out.

I hope you are having a fantastic day, and look forward to doing this again sometime!

(and just a side note to acknowledge Rick’s awesome Haikus)

    Take it easy!

    -Matt
