  1. ‘Fraid I’m in the exact same mode. In my case it may be permanent. I tried to break hiatus today–I posted something several times and took it right down muttering, “Ahh,…what’s the point.” It’s political snark, which I generally try to avoid writing. That could be the problem. I’m also trying to see if laying off the blog for a month does my spirit good. Mayhaps.

  2. I’d probably fling myself off something if I didn’t post for a month. Well, no. I just wouldn’t do it… couldn’t do it. I’m just frustrated because I feel like I’m writing crap. I don’t write politics, so that’s no threat, but I also have no husband or kids to engage people with exciting stories about, nor can I write about my job. So I’ve got… uh… me. And I’m not THAT interesting, even if I have a lot to say all the time.
Something must not be working. I just don’t know what it is.

  3. It is the Blogger’s Dilemma. And I don’t have a Blogger’s Solution.

But the good news is that the more one writes, the better one writes. Are you dissatisfied with writing that you might have liked, say, a year ago? Because if that’s the case, maybe your writing is evolving. And maybe you’re currently in the throes of a particularly uncomfortable set of writer’s growing pains.

Maybe don’t put so much pressure on yourself to post as frequently. Maybe it will help to post once a day, or even take off a day now then. I promise that you wouldn’t lose us!

Don’t apologize for your content. You don’t have a bazillion readers because its NOT good writing.
What you write (about yourself or otherwise) is always inspiring or enlightening. I especially love your creative pieces — observations of the people around you etc. (Except I finish thinking “why can’t I write like that?”)
    Hang in there.
I have had no luck posting comments from work. I’m trying from home tonight. We’ll see!

  5. Honestly, I wake up in a cold sweat almost every night at the thought of whatever it is I may have written. I think we both just need to relax :)

  6. I avoid deleting it by logging off the computer and going off to do something else.
People are here of their own free will, we vote with our time. So crap may be in the eye of the beholder.

How many more cliches can i cram into one comment?

  7. i think you gotta let the words/stories come to you, if you chase them they stay about 2 steps out of reach. also, i happen to like bananacake with choclate chips. give yourself a break.

  8. It is really hard not to analyze over what you posted but I like everything you write. So keep them up for us, even if you hate it.

    Sound fair?

  9. All our spoken words are thrown out onto the wind, always. Let it out, let it go. Write, see how it looks, change the next piece. Take the cringes as lessons, and let your readers see how far you have come, how human you are.

I read some early work by an author I love and emulate. It was such crap. So I figured that if she started there, and got so wonderful, then maybe I have a chance to learn to write well, in time, with practice. Let your readers point out, “You missed a spot!” Best way to progress.

  10. I’ve never deleted a blog entry of my own. Could be because I never write anything that really matters one way or the other.
