who the hell are YOU?

Filed under: stuff — meg @ 11:14 am

Every day I put stuff up on this blog, and people read it.

Or at least they come to the page and stare at the screen.

That’s all I can really verify. Except for the people that comment on the posts, everyone might be going, “Well, I have no idea what the blazes she’s talking about.”

And that, my friends, would be cool, too.

But I want to learn about you, the people that have ended up here. By intention, by chance, by government-sponsored torture… however, really. I like to do this now and again. It’s pretty illuminating and snuggly and stuff like that.

SO.

If you have read this entry, you need to now bring your personal magic to the comments by replying to the following questions.

REALLY. SERIOUSLY. DO IT. IT’S FUN.

And in doing so, you become an automatic part of a true community: The People Who Come To This Web Site.

Sound illustrious? No? Well, dammit. Do it anyway.

  1. What’s your first name? Or if you refuse to tell because you have some cool internet “handle”, what do you wish it was or like it to be?
  2. What the heck do you do for a living? And if you don’t know what you do for a living, what would you LIKE to be doing for a living?
  3. How the heck did you end up here?
  4. Do you know my middle name? Or did you before this comment stream?
  5. Are you freaked out by the term “comment stream”?
  6. Why do you spend time online? Work? Play? eBay? Blogging? YouTube addiction?
  7. If you are a blogger, why do YOU blog?
  8. Tell us why you live where you live.
  9. Tell us your all-time favourite thing to eat.
  10. Tell us your all-time favourite place to go.
  11. Tell us your all-time favourite thing to do.

No, I don’t believe I do. You’ve probably blogged it at some point, though.
    …. no.
Because 9-5 doesn’t seem as long when you’re surfin’ the ‘net.
I don’t blog as often as I should. But when I do, it’s because I need to say something, there’s something inside of me just aching to get out.
I moved from San Diego to San Francisco to go to the Conservatory of Music there. When I was done there, I moved here to San Jose because I had been asked to be the house trumpet player for the local Children’s Musical Theatre company, and I didn’t wanna commute the 100 mile round trip.

    My first name is Desiree.

What the heck do you do for a living? And if you don’t know what you do for a living, what would you LIKE to be doing for a living? I am the Technology Coordinator for a financial institution. I think I wish I could be a WELL PAID (not starving) writer.

Why do you spend time online? Work? Play? eBay? Blogging? YouTube addiction? Tyring to supliment my pathetic social life and sheer boredom while reports compile.

  11. meg Says:

As I said up there, I like to do this now and then:). Now and then being OFTEN and FOR MY PLEASURE.

  12. Kimberly Says:

    1. Kimberly. I’m okay with it as a name in general.

    2. I’m a copywriter for an online company that sells things.

    3. Link from a link from a link…don’t really remember, but glad I did!

    4. Nope.

    6. Mainly work. Sometimes play. No real addictions, though I was sucked into Myspace for an amount of time I don’t really want to disclose.

    7. I guess I blog because I have a hard time speaking my thoughts out loud. It’s a good way to vent, and just be the real, weird person that’s deep inside me somewhere.

Okay, I’m one of the lurkers, but I’ll answer this one.

My name is Marjorie. That’s fine with me.

I’m an editorial assistant for children’s books, but I’m not positive what that means yet. Part receptionist, part copyeditor, part researcher, part cutter-out of pictures.

I got here from your old blog, from World According to Chuck, from Real Live Preacher, from a recommendation by a friend’s uncle.

I have no idea of your middle name.

“Comment stream” doesn’t really bother me. I kind of like the idea of things coming in streams, actually.

I claim I use the Internet to keep in touch with my friends, and sometimes I do, but mostly I distract myself with it.

    I don’t really blog. I livejournal, but it isn’t public. That’s the keeping-in-touch-with-friends bit.

I live where I live because I got a job starting at the beginning of this month, desperately needed somewhere to live so I could take the job, and this apartment was the only one I’d seen anywhere within commuting distance that was acceptable. Now I live in the city and commute to the suburbs. I’ll have to find somewhere else soon.

All-time favorite food is any kind of cheese. I’m kind of obsessed.

If you offered me a trip to England, I would be gone in a second.

    Reading books.

I’m gonna be a geek about the song and suggest Skullcrusher Mountain by Jonathan Coulton. It’s quite amusing and available online.

I am, in fact, wearing pants.

I second the person who said to just keep doing what you’re doing.

Too late for lunch, as I ate it eight hours ago.

Don’t make the mistake I made, namely, killing a bug and then letting it fall into your tea. Or coffee.

I think I was motivated by guilt for how many of these I’ve read and not answered.

    6. Procrastination. And, er…the internet is my lifeline.

    7. I blog because I wanted to write more and hack back into my really wacky stream of consciousness style of writing that I had back in high school (I would write tomes to my friends). Still haven’t managed to do so. Now it’s more a way for me to keep in touch with family and friends around the work so they know what I’m up to. I tend to restrict myself too much because I know my parents will be reading it!

    8. I live in Squamish because it’s the most beautiful place in the world. There are mountain trails out my backdoor, ocean and rivers down the road, and it’s halfway between Vancouver and Whistler.

    4. No. Am I going to be expelled?
    5. Not so much.
    6. Work and play. I would have no career and approximately half as much fun without the Internet.
    7. Because it’s fun. And for a multitude of other insignificant reasons, which I cover on my blog.
    8. Boston–fiance finishing grad school.
    9. Mmmm…. cinnamon rolls with lots of icing. Or Giordano’s thin crust pizza. Or this incredible dish at a restaurant in Sunnyvale, CA. I don’t know! Easier question, please!
    10. Crap. Umm… “Favorite place to go” seems to imply regularity, so I would say to my parents’ house. Favorite place I have ben, though, is probably Peru.
