I tried to set up a Mac for Robby’s parents. It was a little like rocket science and long division, or perhaps I am just really not very smart.
I kind of aspire to understand them eventually, because it seems to me that one is not a bona fide web geek without a Mac.
Ah, see, I haven’t ventured into the desktop Macs. That would be hard core. The laptops are like candy.
I have ventured into both as I have a Powerbook and a G5 with a 23″ screen. I am a geek; yes. However, setting up the desktop is not much different than a laptop.
Whatever the case, gone are the blue screens of death, the anti-virus software, the blah, blah, blah. The only issue is that sometimes I get the dreaded pinwheel of death when I try and process too much. Oh well. I can live with it.
Viva la mac, no?
drew.
I loved my iBook so much that I bought a Mini for my husband. So cute!! It’s a little pocket Mac! And very very easy. Oh yes. And the blue pinwheel of death? Memorize: Command-Option-Esc. (I think.)
my year+ old iBook is the best thing ever in the history of everything.
Mine is nigh on 3 years old now and has yet to crash. it is still perfect and lovely and happy, although covered in many fingerprints from my notorious “eat and type” problem. I haven’t named it, though. If I did I think it would be “patrick.” I don’t know why.
Ah! Mr Clean Magic Sponge! Takes away all fingerprints. I used one from the beginning. Bliss. Mine is still awfully pristine.
I need one!!!!
Unfortunately, my little iBook recently suffered from a dead hard drive. Not very expensive to replace, but recovering the last two years’ photos was pricey. Now everything is going well and my nearly-dead two and half year old battery just got recalled.
Hurray for new batteries that come free at just the right time.
Did you just say “my wee milky Apple?”
Dude, I’ve said that while hugging the damn thing on your COUCH.
The saddest part of the whole story was the mention of FedEx.
thanks for the great info
