If choosing a good conditioner is political, then hell, yes… THIS IS A POLITICAL BLOG.

Filed under: stuff — meg @ 10:09 am

Hello! Have I mentioned that I like beauty products?

I giggle as I type the words “beauty products”, because those words make me think of Coty Musk and Queen Helene Mint Julep masque and Revlon “Cherries In The Snow” lipstick and other things that you can get at Sally Beauty Supply.

At the end of the day, I just like anything that I can put anywhere on my body that will a) make it smell good; b) make it soft; c) make it seem more healthy; or d) make it pretty. I also like to begin sentences with “at the end of the day”.

BUT.

This isn’t about me.

This is about YOU.

People, it’s time for the MegFowler.com Beauty Survey! I always see lists of favourite products and “Editor’s Picks” in the magazines I read at the beach, and I thought, well, why shouldn’t we do that here? Some of us are product people, I know it. And those of us that aren’t? IT’S NOT TOO LATE FOR YOU.

I want to know the best of the best of the best of the stuff you use, regardless of your gender, your budget, or your daily routine. Because then I can steal all the best recommendations and smell/look/feel… well, SUPER.
GO!

ok, this might be a little biased as i am an independent consultant for a skin-care line, and i LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE their all natural, botanically-based, “pure, safe, and beneficial” products…but i’ll try not to sound like a commercial.
everything i use (shampoo, conditioner, body cleanser, body lotion, skin-care, anti-aging regimen, masque, salt scrub etc.) is all Arbonne. it smells great, even though there is no added fragrance, and there are no animal products.
as for makeup…i am a MAC girl, even though Arbonne does sell super cosmetics…shhhh, don’t tell. absolute must haves…MAC bronzer, instant gold lustre glass, coal black prolash mascara. i’m not much of a hair gal, i’ve had the same can of hairspray in my medicine cabinet for about four years. i love OPI nailpolish in coney island cotton candy, the only color i will wear.

Your all-time favourite moisturizer (body): The Body Shop Brazil Nut body butter even though I know they are evil bastards.
Your all-time favourite sunscreen (face): Same problem as moisturizer but 10x worse. Think boils. It is horrific.
Your all-time favourite sunscreen (body): I can barely tolerate Banana Boat sport. I still break out though.

Your all-time favourite masque/face treatment: Huh?

  6. meg Says:

Wow… you react to all that stuff, and you can use a salt scrub on your skin? I find that scrubs REALLY kill on sensitive skin. Fortunately, my skin can handle, like, Ajax.

Any products you love that don’t fit the list: You listed more products than I have heard of!

  8. carmie Says:

All my hair products, moisturizer, lotion, etc are Avalon Organic’s lavender line. They make a facial moisturizer with built-in SPF 18. But since I’m a sun-phobe, I also use Rocky Mountain Sunscreen’s SPF 30 all the time. I reek of lavender, so don’t bother with perfume.
