friends.

Filed under: stuff — meg @ 12:09 am

A friend of ours came to visit this weekend. We had such a good time, we forgot to take pictures, mostly.

But.

He looks like this (and will hate me for both of these shots, I guarantee, but it’s not MY fault someone won’t pose):

Look how edgy and tough he looks. We were SO intimidated.

Not.

We showed him all the sights of Vancouver — at least all the ones you can pack into almost two days (allowing for coffee stops and copious goofing off.)

Among the thrills?

A gorgeous drive along the Sea-to-Sky Highway, all the way to Squamish.

And then the view from the top of the British Properties…

That’s where I caught this Lohan-esque paparazzi shot of Catherine:

And at the Sea Wall, I caught the only living picture of Eric and I:

You can totally tell we’re friends.

We miss Eric already, what with his being SO EASY TO WHIP AT SCRABBLE, his willingness to stop for coffee every five minutes, his eagerness to take the pizza out of my hands when the crazy man delivered it, his statement five minutes after waking on Saturday that he needed an iron to help his wrinkly clothing, and his love of Canadian television.

(It’s pretty good!)

And so is our friend Eric.

He had a hard time getting home after his plane connected with a silly bird, but he made it there. And fortunately (along with Peet’s coffee and Catherine’s beloved Cracklin’ Oat Bran) he left someone to keep us company until he returns:

We now have our very own Alpaca. And he’s HYPOALLERGENIC!

We miss you, Eric, of course, but we’re making do.

I AM NOT EITHER EASY TO WHIP AT SCRABBLE!

It took an airplane, two curiously invasive customs officials, a pizza, and a full WEEKEND for me to get whipped at Scrabble.

But I like to think I came through. When you lose by 100% of your own point total, THAT is losing with panache.

And if there is one thing I have? Panache.

It was the best time ever. Everybody? Meg and Cat rock. Seriously. Rad.

Now I have to go look up ‘panache’.

Are you TRYING to rub it in? I am soooo jealous!! Glad you had a great time.

Ah, I love that mountain/sea shot!

How fun! I’ve got to hand it to Eric though, just for attempting to play Scrabble with the wordsmith-y Meg, that’s a feat. Speaking of feet, nice feet you two :)

I’m so glad he left an alpaca for you. It probably needs a lot of rest and TLC after making that trek for the second time. Does it have a name yet? I’d recommend “Eric”, if it isn’t named yet.

looks like a good time was had by all. but seriously meg, if you and cat are ever passing through the bay area you have to stop in and meet me and notsoccer mom. we both love coffee too! :)

  8. Cat Says:

um…nice dancing move on the dock, Eric. Very masculine.

  9. Mike Says:

    Eric, you dog you!

  10. Wandering Willow Says:

No, no, I think you should name the Alpaca “Al”. His last name would of course be “Paca”.

But you’ve probably already named it “Java” or something like that.
