I like Ella, but my favorite blues ladies have got to be Nina Simone and Billie Holiday.

I love Ella, especially with Louis. I kind of prefer Sarah Vaughn, but it’s a ridiculous distinction, really. Billy is great because she accomplished so much having so much less than Ella or Sarah to work with. Now, here’s a question—Diana Krall or Jane Monheit (not that either could stand on the same stage as Ella). Who do ya like? I’m down with Jane.
